just not too long ago, iGuides promoted itself buying almost everyone's avatar here on DP (i'm sure there are other forms of advertising as well). just wondering how much they really make a month. i see decent alexa ranking for them for a site being that new.
An odd question. Check their latest links page, it gives you a small idea. The forum is quite nice over there and brings a lot of traffic. That probably helps the alexa rank along with the unique content and ongoing promotions.

Just another? Regular Directory? With Unique Template... Hah! If it has a unique template then you should know that it's not just another directory. The fact is that not even 1% of total directories on web have a unique template. So it's not "Just another directory". Sorry, but i wanted to clear your misconception. Carry on...
please accept my sincere apology if i have offended anyone here. that was actually an honest question with nothing specific in mind. i have seen them starting up only few months ago. when i saw the contest result yesterday, i thought i would take a look at their alexa rank to get an idea how they are doing in terms of traffic, which is pretty decent for a newer site. as an website owner, i'm always happy if i see another website is doing good. i do not own a directory neither do i have any intention to own one in the future. i do however submit to directories and sometimes to paid ones as well. the assumption of me trying to find out how much they make so that i can start my own directory is not really the case. i have seen other sections of DP where there are discussions about how much Shawn makes from adsense with DP (thread link1, thread link 2) and people sharing article for some site that is being owned by 17 year old highschool dropout making 70k per month (thread here). people don;t talk about how much Shawn makes so that they can start up their own forum like DP, it just out of curiocity. once again, please accept my sincere apology if i've offended anyone here which was not my intention. thank you for your time.
I would not stress on it to much, if you took what they earnt and diveded it bytwo, it would only be half as much anyway. One thing for sure the team behind the directory have a slick pair of heels and have done a good job.
@Op - Don't get hurt. The directory community - more than any community on DP is very close-knit While we have lots of bickerrings - lots of fun -we also know how to make jokes. While my friend's views are absolutely correct ( you should not have asked the Q) - they are also using some special words which is familiar in our group. Hopefully, you won't make the mistake again. Why do we all keep thinking that how much Mr.X is making, Just carry on and work hard on your projects. By doing that it will make u more money and will be the best utilization of time.
Well the most common scenario/myth used is... 1. Buy my $1.99 .info domain 2. Get me a FREE script 3. Promote it FREE in the Solicitations & Announcements section at DP 4. Sell some $2 dollar links for 6 months 5. Sell the directory after it gets a PR3-4-5 6. Do it all over again x10 This way of thinking has long been dead as most already know what your into and wont be submitting anytime soon knowing you will probably dump the database and google doesn't just give out PR so generously anymore so the chances of your success are now close to 0. Now if your interested in coming into this industry and making an impact or atleast a reputable name for yourself then by all means join the party and reap the rewards a few years down the road like the rest of those whom worked hard to become successful before you. thx malcolm
haha..I made $6k last month from my direcotries..it is one time deal though..but it is nice to have directories for your sites and get money for your severs every month.
