It is a little strong with ads, but I think it will be effective for getting adsense clicks. I think you might want to change up the design just a little bit. It is almost too plain maybe add a few pics of what we can expect in each category on the main page to break it up a little. I like where your going with the colors, very easy on the eyes. What? It's terrible because I made it? Who are you? My site partner has made two of these sites, this one with me and another one (basically the same) and it sold for $600 and made $100+ from adsense, how is that terrible?
the layout is not bad. You might want to separate the two ad units to make them a little more discrete, they kind of bunch up at the corner. Overall great design.
