Just so you know I got a fake e-mail that was claimed to be from paypal, make sure paypal emails come from paypal, mine came from 4bikes.pl

and always always make sure that the URL is paypals, Internet explorer tells you if its a phishing site.

I changed my password, i think im iin the clear.

has this happed to anyone else, this came right after a spoof e-mail supposidly from no-minimum.com which i have worked out

Thanks for the information. Another thing to do is don't click on links that come to your email from paypal, instead manually goto paypal.com and login and if they REALLY needed you to do something you'll see something about it in your account.

Anytime you receive an email from paypal or claiming that it is not paypal, don't click anything just go to the browser and type http://www.paypal.com, login and look for the information. If it is real, the information should be there too.

These have been around for a long time. The crop up faster than Paypal can shut them down. If you think it might be real, just hold your mouse pointer over the link and you can see on the bottom of the browser what the link is. Also as others have said, always goto the site manually and you can check any messages that were really sent to you there. This also applies for eBay and most credit card companies.

One more thing to always notice that paypal always start their email with 'Dear Your First Name and Your Last Name' instead of Dear Paypal Member or something like that. Just make one habit that always login your account using new browser with type full url yourself. Its better and safe IMO.

Well I never notice they use our name :) But I was fooled once, so I never dare click on any paypal link or anything in an email just to be on the safe side. Agree with your suggestion make it a habit type in the url yourself.

    Cheers!

    i received the same one.

but i also received a similar email from another place too.

they direct to different link (not to paypal)

i would suggest, never click link s directly even if they are from paypal.(except the activation link)

best is to go directly and login.

and please take the test regarding these emails.
there is one at paypal.com though i dont remember the link right now

Well you are wrong on this, send to them and in the next 24-48 hours that phish web site will disappear. I never seen Paypal so efficient in other things except this I guess.

Ebay is another one that is super fast on phishing thingy. I can tell you the banks are worse, I send them the phish email and their reply was they are not the one sending it, after a few correspondence, I just back off, they can have all the phishing they like.....

I've received so many of these that as soon as I see an email from PayPal or Ebay my red flag alert goes off! I'd say 1 out of 10 emails i get that say PayPal are not from paypal, so I hardly ever read them anymore...

    This is my experience:
    - Check the domain of the email sender and make sure it's an PayPal domain
    - Make sure the link you going to click are belong to PayPal domains. It may be a fake like this:
    https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_login-run
    - All emails from PayPal contain:
    Dear FirstName LastName,
    like this:
    Emails like:
    are 99.99% fake emails
I will tell you more if I remember more! ;)
    Hope this help!
