Got to my kids school to pick him up this afternoon only to find that me, my kid, and the other mommys and daddys were locked in. Apparently we had a C6 Vortex (funnel cloud) Tornado pass over us. I was stuck in the school for about an hour... I will have to say that the kids, the teachers, everyone was very organized and well behaved. It looks like these kids really know their drills.. It has been years since I have seen anyone "assume the position" for a tornado.. Wow did that bring back memories... I guess there was some damage in the surrounding areas, but no one really knows for sure where.. It's still pitch black out. Checked on the house and animals, all that is still there.. So I guess we are ok... Great job Central - Denison with the safety of our kids.
it was and still is windy as hell in the uk. last night i got hardly any sleep bacause of the sound from the wind. nothing as severe as you experienced thogh
You know, I did not even get to see any of it.. We were in the basement of a hundred year old school.. This place was like a nuclear hardened bunker.. As far as I know 5 homes were destroyed about 10 miles or so from here..
My neighbor was telling me about this tonight when I took my dog out before. Glad you and your fam are ok
Well I lived in tornado ally so not only did I get them to this day I am a storm chaser. Of course being ya'll ain't from the states I reckon ya'll wouldn't know tornado ally. Also I am unfamiliar with this C scale for tornadoes. What country is that from?
thats funny, and that happened (except for a robbery a few miles away) to our school last year. got out of school for half a day
In the county I live in we get a decent amount of them. Not as much as other parts of the nation but plenty
Glad to hear you guys are alright! We don't come across tornados here in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Are tornados considered as common as power outages there?
That C6 threw me off. We use the EF Scale to rate toranadoes in this country. Used to be the F scale but the EF Scale was placed into operation in April 2007.
We get both tornadoes and hurricanes here in FL... and lots of lightning. Better than earthquakes if you ask me, although in a couple of cases the people who got direct hits over the years would probably disagree with me. -Michael
