Which version do you have in mind?

Anyway - you should start with DualCore 2.0, 1GB RAM, and 512MB video memory. All above this configuration will only get you frustrated.

I'm not sure how well Aero will function, if you want that feature, but I have a dual-core 1.7GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and Vista runs very smooth here. I've heard of lots of people with only 512MB and it's worked for them too.

The problem with minimum requirements is that it's for the OS only. Any app that competes for system resources will slow it down to a crawl.

Tip: Don't even think about running Vista if you have less than 1GB of RAM and a decent video card.

The main requirement for Vista is patience. :)

All jokes aside, based on my experience with Vista, I wouldn't go with anything less than 1 gig of RAM.

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 Ghz
    1GB Ram
    160GB HDD Here

I am currently using Vista, i would personally say that you should also use a 3D Card, and for the best performance go for 2GB Ram.

No, it won't. No application I've used yet has been considerably slower in Vista. I haven't noticed any performance differences.
