I'm surprised the response seems so overwhelmingly paypal. Are processors like Plimus and Digital River not as prominent because of there focus on just software/digital content?

There are many online payment processors out there. But i use Paypal. I have a premier account.I am really happy with their services. Its fast, quick and secure. But i strongly dislike the idea that Paypal polices their members and refuses to transact certain kinds of payments, even if they are legal.
