The new iMac

I'm thinking about purchasing one (the 20 inch) but I'm wondering if it is worth the money. I'm not a gamer at all, but I am a pretty serious (imo) webmaster and online entrepeneur. I spend 3-5 hours daily on the net and don't download too much, usually small things less than 10 MB if anything.

Is this worth the money and can it fit what I would do?

    (specs: http://www.apple.com/imac/specs.html, the 2.0 Ghz)

I love Macs, i have a MB Pro. If you have the money, go for it. You won't regret it.

I have a 17-inch iMac with a 1.8GH processor and 1GB of RAM. I love it! I do my website on it easily. I'll bet the 20" screen you are considering is awesome.

I also have a 15" MacBook Pro with a 2GH processor and 2GB of RAM. With the extra RAM and slightly more powerful processor, it does outperform the iMac, but not by much. For the website I still use the iMac and have absolutely no trouble with it. The iMac meets all my webmaster needs.

The only problem left is convincing my mom :] I'm considering 2 GB of ram (added cost) over 1 GB.

Yes, if you can stretch the $$, I would definitely go for the 2GB of RAM.

    Let's see the price differential.

Ouch, that's an extra $150. Anyone know is RAM can be added afterwards?

Well, for a 15 year old, spending 1700 (or around 2000) on a cpu is going to be a hard job. 1100 or 1300 is much more reasonable (the 2.0 ghz 20'')

I just bought the 20" iMac 2,4GHz with 2GB RAM and it's working perfectly for my webmaster needs and also my gaming needs. I installed Windows Vista on it for my gaming needs and I'm playing all kind af games perfectly (for example, Crysis, Call of Duty 4 etc.)

Either get the 20" or the 24" they are both perfect.

Imacs look cool, but seem very pricy for what you get.

for 2200, the large imac is nice but apples are high dollar machines.
with that said, I just got a new 800$ hp and it's every bit as powerful as the 2200 imac, I already had a 19" lcd and i'm planning to get another.
I'm like you, not a gamer but do spend a lot of time online messing with websites.

for me, it was more of the programs that i need will be hard to find for a mac
my wife has a powerbook and I really wanted to get one of the new G5's, but 800$ vs 2200$,, it wasn't really a question at that point.
