Hi Just wondering if you are trying to put your time in building a nice directory and are you getting something out of it in terms of money or traffic to your other sites? Does designing and building directory in some form helpful? I am planning to expend my directory portfolio but worried whether I should give my time to it or not. As I am not getting enough results out of my current directory sites. Thanks for sharing in views in advance.
Sounds to me like you have already answered your own question . Put the work and time into those directories instead of creating new ones.
But do you really think directories can be good income generating sites even though I put my time and efforts into existing sites? Thanks for quick reply!
It may be you unlock the secrets of a successful directory with what you have, before creating more directories.
Definitely the answer is a yes. Developing directories is hard work, but the rewards reaped after is enormous. I have my directories (see in my sig) to prove it.
I agree, if your current ones are not successful then why start new ones? List your URL's and you might get some good tips.
Thank you very much to all for giving time to reply my queries. DP community rock! Here are few of my directories. If you have any tip please do suggest www.AffiliateRoot.com www.HealthReload.com www.PPCroot.com www.SeoAge.com www.FreewareDir.com www.LinkWebmasters.com www.SeoLists.com Thanks once again!
Looks-wise I would have to say your directories are below average, perhaps spend some time and/or money on getting custom or customized templates done. I notice some have articles, are they unique ones? I don't know why you would want to build more directories since you have so many and as you stated they are not successful?
Yes. It's nice to make a few bucks and help webmasters get backlinks and traffic. My main focus is generating traffic for those listed in the directory. I added the seo friendly url mod, deep link mod, and plenty of other mods to make it more appealing and informative. This added value to the listings and to help those listings get ranked in the search engines. Yes. Your directory can help you launch other related sites and services. Also, you may find that you can develop good relationships with other webmasters. I only own one directory and put plenty of time, effort, and money in it to make it a good resource. It's not fancy by any means. The most visually appealing pages are the listing detail pages, and that is what most of my visitors see. On 12/30 I received a kind E-mail from someone that had listed at my site. Here is the quote: It's positive feedback like this that makes me want to continue building my directory. I don't know how people can own ten or more directories and have the time to devote to them. I put a lot of time, effort, and money into this directory and it's only a fraction of where I want it to be. Running a directory won't make you rich. But with your directory you can help other webmasters and build relationships with them. For me, it's been nothing less then a positive experience.
Building a directory is a difficult, & time consuming task. But, once established it returns the favor. Increasing the number of directories in your portfolio won't necessarily help you earn more.
You Have more like this and your asking about starting more again. ? you wrote should i give my time in your original post ? yet look at your directories aff dir / last article 2006 health directory / promoting a hosting company free / last article 2006 link / last article feb 2007 seo / last article 2006 In reality i think you have returned what has been put in, no offence but it seems like you jumped on the dir band wagon, loaded xyz directories all in the space of a few months, then sat back to watch the riches roll in, without any input. a classic lesson for all players i would think. if it were me you have 3 or 4 of those dir's all with similar themes , aff etc so i would combine them and dump the rest, it is just to spread out and trying to work on all and promote all will cost you more time and money. the rest needs walking the walk, talking the talk wont do it, so it will be roll up the sleeves and work hard or dump / sell them. Leaving as they are with no work will see them as dust in the corner if not that now. good luck with your decissions moving forward.
Directorys are a great help But like people having 100 sites i don't undestand people having 100 dirs Just my 2c
Thank you all for your great contribution and sharing your views. I got the lesson. I am not going to start new project and will be putting up my energy and time into the existing ones. I hope that these directories will start generating the results soon. Thanks once again!
