Google killer? is it possibile?

What would you say about the success of YouTube and Myspace? They proved that it does not take billions to compete. When Google buys YouTube for 4+ billion and News Corp buys Mysapce for 560 million you know something is up. As I said its not going to be the big companies who are going to kill Google. Its going to be the little guys like you and me who is going to ind something better.

Why is Google making a Wikipedia rival and Wikipedia is opensource? Why are they courting Mozilla so heavily? Give them some time and FireFox might soon be changing logos.

 

YouTube and Myspace also had millions of dollars invested into it. And again YouTube and Myspace also came in a good times. I'm not saying it's impossible to break into a market without money because its very possible with NEW ideas that haven't been done. Look at Plenty Of Fish. It was one of the FIRST dating sites, thats why Plenty Of Fish owns a large part of the dating market. You either have to be one of the first or do something new. If not, it's close to impossible to be one of the top sites.

You see it all the time on this very forum and others. One million people with video sites, photo hosting, dating, social networking expecting to be the next Myspace or YouTube and they don't even have simple php knowledge or even seo knowledge, but they want to take over the internet. It's not going to happen.

 

Google is really big and experienced fro search and best results. So if someone is try to create new project like google,i think it won't be succesful like google. Also i read news; google will index changes on websites only in 5 minutes with its new searching methods and bots.

 

There is a startup in Australia that gives live results vs indexed ones but Google is in negotiation to buy them out.

You can attempt to compete with google on innovation, but they have so much capital and everyone has their price...

 

Possible but very unlikely. I think Google are like the Microsoft of search engines.

 

Rumors and conspiracies about it's privacy system would start bringing it down.

 

I agree with you and that is why I said it is innovation that is going to beat Google. Not big companies.

When Myspace started it was two friends who decided to use the site to promote their band and the rest is history. BTW Google got into the search market pretty late. But they had innovation. They came up with a bunch of neat tools that everyone loved and guaranteed results. So there again....innovation not money that put them on top.

 

You need to look up the real history of Myspace

 

Only person I believe can stop Google is Bill Gates, I believe he has the power to stop google.
One smart move that Microsoft can do is to buy Yahoo, yet they missed out on YouTube which would of helpped a lot. Besides that, Google it self can be destroyed because there are 3? owners ( I believe one of the 2 true owners got married) and if that marrige breaks apart.. that may damage Google.

 

I use Myspace everyday. In fact I run a business on Myspace so I am sure I am pretty familiar with its story.

Actually both YouTube and Myspace were offered to Microsoft. Microsoft decided not to take them because they said they wanted to start their own social network and video site that would integrate more tightly with Windows. How Youtube and Myspace is at the moment it would take a hell of a work to integrate it. Not to mentioin creating a specific department for that.

Google is hard to defeat but I'm pretty sure there are some company who's trying to kill big G...

 

i believe it can be done, like another guy here said. Buy Ask.com and invest a lot into advertising it. We are talking about million and millions of USD here though

 

Google is big company, it's very hard that any other will kill him easily

 

There are plenty of small players like ask.com, but could make it big if marketed aggressively.
There are complaints about Google results not relevant sometimes.

I think only Google can kill itself by over accumulation of smaller companies.

 

i agree with Stallion , they wont be able to up google by doing the same thing. Google has got its foothold. Its somebody doing something different and bieng the best at it, can kill google !
