    I disagree this was a horrible post by Matt he didn't answer anything. IMO. This was very vague and he did mention this secrete sauce stuff!

    Just going around the bush again

    Its a common knowledge that, .edu links have a bit "more" weight (link power) than just regular .com ot .net links...

    BUT

    I 100% agree to this:

    spammy .edu link with hundreds outbounds on it has no real edu power!

    That "common" knowledge is where people disagree. Matt Cutts states it right here that most .edu or .gov links have no "more weight" than a .com or any other.

    There are a lot of edu content pages out there that are orphaned sections of an edu site. Most are put up by students wanting to make a quick buck and offer little real value. If you have one of these orphaned pages, start pointing some links to it so at least the SEs can find it.

    If you want an link that will really help, get a link on one of the edu's real webpages. Next to impossible, but if you got the link it would be pure gold.
