I've heard that Google may penalize sites that improperly list their URLs on Craigslist. Does anyone know anything about this?

    im·proper·ly adv.

Synonyms: improper, unbecoming, unseemly, indelicate, indecent, indecorous
These adjectives mean not in keeping with accepted standards of what is right or proper. Improper often refers to unethical conduct, a breach of etiquette, or morally offensive behavior: improper business practices.

Wow you really think that njoker555 is a lunatic, right? Well if he is a lunatic, than I'm a lunatic too. I don't get it how someone can link improperly on Craigslist. Either you put your link in your ad, or not.

Since they're all nofollow links, I doubt it would make much of a difference. And like Wiki, spam links get removed fairly quickly anyway.

If you spam craigslist with your link, don't be surprised that Google will ban you.

Were you listing ads in your posts? I'm referring to search engine results and indexing, not Adsense.

I have a product blog - www.obsessionfitness.com and heard that listing products in the For Sale section with site links could cause problems with Google PR, SERPs etc.

I did it in small niches and there was no problem with my Google ranking and PR. By the way PR is not that important...

Just wondering but how did you find this out?

I put up 100s of CL ads a day for multiple sites never had one banned, actually the CL ads actually rank for niche keywords which drives more traffic to my site.

I never believe all this if you spam your link you will get banned crap. If it where that easy I would spam my competitors links all over the place and get them banned from Google.

I heard it from an unreliable source so I was trying to confirm here.

What type of posts do you do on CL?

I post in "Computer Services", "Financial Services", and "Communities Pet" nationwide.

I post my URL every time, and generally an image.. oh and my 800 number in the Computer Services posts.

If that's true, what's stopping people from spamming competitors' links on CL to get them banned?

You guys care to much about Google. If you get more visitors putting your web site on Craigslist go for it.

Put it differently, you will not get banned but google might outright ignore all outgoing links from Craigslist. Does that make more sense?

That means no PR juice passed to you. In fact, you will notice the craigslist ad will dominate your website in SERPS, coz its holds authority than your website.
