Hey all - I pop into this forum from time to time, and wanted to say hi again. Now that 2007 is in the books, I started to take a closer look at my freelance writing income for the year. In 2007, I earned close to $80k through writing related tasks alone. Simply put, I wanted to show everybody that it is more than possible to succeed in this industry. There are so many posts on DP about low paying jobs, struggling writers, and other negative topics. When it comes down to it, there are copywriting jobs out there that pay "real wages." They are not always easy to find, but they do exist for those who are willing to look for them while also marketing their services. Hopefully 2008 will be more of the same for me, as well as all of you! For more information on my 2007 income and a December in which I made $6,200, check out my blog. Of course, I would be happy to field questions via pm, comments on my blog, or email. Just get in touch!
That's great news... Even better is the fact that you're willing to help others out. Keep it up! Cheers.
That's great! Good on ya! Just went over and checked out your site. Very nice. Now just think what you could make in 2008 if you raised your rates up closer to industry standard! You'd get twice the pay for half the work!
I dont want to be a damp squid here but your site refers to 'we' and 'our' in your sales blurb. Does that mean you have more writers working for you or do you mean, as your thread says, that you earned $80,000 writing yourself. As you left your site link for everyone visit, I took a look at your prices. To have earned $80,000 at your own stated prices you would have to have written 13,330 x 350-400 word articles. Forgive me for asking these questions but I am intrigued. Maybe I'm wrong and your earned your money elsewhere but I then wondered if you could command such prices why are you offering articles on your site at these prices. Oh well I suppose I was very gently pushed to visit your site. Regards JohnT
Wordsmith - Thanks for the comment. That is just one of my "service sites" and to tell you the truth, it is the one that brings in the least amount of work. It has some outdated rates, and does not touch on any of the corporate or feature writing work that I do. Simply put, it is for those looking for web copy at an affordable rate. Profire - I am US based. But no matter where you live, making money as a freelance writer is doable!
Hey all - If you are still interested in following along with my income, I have posted my January stats at: http://www.chrisblogging.com/freelance-writing-income-january-2008/ Thanks again, and please feel free to ask questions!
Congrats, good work on earning a steady living through freelancing. I'm noticing higher paying jobs coming my way - up to 30x what I earned when I started out (at $0.01 a word )... from DP, surprisingly! Plenty of time left, but hopefully I'll make half of what you did through freelancing sometime this year
Nice to see article writers getting good money at last ! In my opinion ,People must prefer native english article writer when it comes to writing quality articles !
I love threads like this, gives us the motivation to carry on and push forward. If it wasn't for this section of the forum I would still be charging $1.50 per 100 words but thanks to everyone here I've raised the bar finally and do far less work and get far more money
Mindblowing achievement indeed, pal. I checked your site just now. Wonderful keep going. I just started my career as freelanceer and just got my first article sold in constant content for 70 dollars.
vjlenin - that is awesome! CC offers a great way to get started. And if you can make $70 for one article you are definitely on the right track. Thanks for the kind words, and good luck with your career as well.
