hey why people prefer to use .com and not .org .net and other .endings .info is so cheap but why does people still want .com etc So what makes you want .com more then any other .endings?
Because people will think of site name and .com over any other. If site uses net some people might search for domain name under .com and not find it.
.Com is the most popular among the gTLDs. However, if you have yourdomain.com you may want to registered all the gTLDs to protect the brand you are building over the period of time. In fact most of the major website registered all the available gTLDs and ccTLDs to protect their own brand worldwide and in a particular country. I hope it helps. Best wishes, HumDomains.com
The simple reason is .com is the most popular extension. Have you ever thought of typing google.org or google.info in yur browser?
I think its just a matter of time before some of these other TLDs catch up to .com. The general public is use to seeing and hearing about .coms and right now when you search the search engines you're flooded with .com. Once the general public gets use to seeing more and more .net, .info, etc I think it will even out the playing field. maybe one day there will be type-in traffic for .info domains....who knows
if i tell you my company is xyz corp checkout our website do you type xyzcorp.com or xyzcorp.net? that's why.
Easier to remember for the general population & also has more value then any other extention. But just about anything decent in the .com has been taken Wish I started domaining 10 years ago!
.com presents a commercial, .net presents network, .org presents organisation its depands on your company's nature.
I mainly like & use .com is because it's what everyone knows and It's the oldest TLD and it's imprinted in people's heads.
most popular and engrained in people's minds, www dot com whenever referring to a website. Anything else people might look at you funny.
I have learned to always get the .com extension when buying a domain, I have got the impression that the dot com domains are better to use.
Think of a website address. Any website address. Unless a government or nonprofit site came to mind, chances are, the domain extension is .com. In fact, 52% of all websites are .com sites. Especially if you're going to be telling people what your website address is (as opposed to them finding you in search engine results), there are benefits to using the “default” domain extension .com simply for easy recall. If you simply MUST have a domain name that is not available with the .com extension, consider a .net address. These are a good option for tech companies since there is a subtle mental hook -- .net = internet or network. This is the second most popular extension and is widely accepted for businesses of all types. You can even have a little fun with this one if your business name happens to end in “net.” For example, “abcxyz.net,” anyone?
I'll disagree with everyone on here. Domain names don't mean shit anymore, particularly extensions. You're going to move most of your traffic through social media or SEO (and, let's be honest, it's going to be social media) and people have no idea what site they are going to. They see the post, see the share, see it's from someone or some page they trust, and they click. There's no SEO or social media advantage to a .com over anything else. So unless you're a celebrity or a major brand and have the image issue to worry about, use whatever the fuck you want.
