    What makes Crafty Tips unique?

    1. Parent category list on every page to make it more like a regular website and less like a "directory".
    2. Much more content then a typical directory - Each listing has a tip.
    3. Most listings have a product picture rather than a screen shot.
    4. While not the only Arts & Crafts directory, it certainly is one of a kind with the tips.
    5. Focus has always been on being a resource for submitters AND visitors.
    6. Unique category list.
    7. It's not a general directory.
    8. 100% category adherence
    9. While not 100% unique, it's not common - sites may list in 3 different categories, but each listing requires a different description and tip. Each of these listings may be to different pages.
    10. When possible categories are limited to 20 listings (2 pages) before the category is further split into sub-categories.

I don't know of any other directory other than article directories where the submitters are required to include additional on-topic content beyond merely describing their own site like mine does. The entire site was built upon the concept of sharing information and the tips are a major part of that.

Thank you Pipes. A great deal of thought went into building it.

The one pitfall with the design is that it makes it hard for me to add sites on my own. I can write descriptions and usually can find some bit of advice on a site to turn into a tip, but copyrights are my big problem for the pictures. I could use screenshots, but I've been told even those are copyrighted. When I started I used a placeholder for the sites I added, but they stick out badly from the rest.

I think my Hot Sauce Network is unique, because I haven't found any other niche directory devoted to the subject.. :)
