Does anyone know why they support who they do?

I get the feeling a lot of people are very supportive of a particular candidate....but have no solid facts, etc. to back up WHY they are supporting a particular candidate.

Does anyone here support a candidate and know why they are supporting them? Just curious... I expect not a single reply to this thread :D

The forum is full of it. Go to YouTube, MySpace, FaceBook... Everywhere you'll get the reasons why Ron Paul, a 72 year old Republican, is the best choice for America.

    Check this out.

I just prayed for your soul. Jesus (The Huckster) said moving to Australia would be an un-American thing to do. Please don't make Jesus angry like that. If you read the forum, people here have posted who they support and why. Over and over. All your answers lie within the P/R section. Just be careful of the heretics here supporting that devil Ron Paul.

I support None. He is a serious threat to the establishment, no wonder they never bother to count votes cast for him. Until this dishonesty is corrected, why even bother to register to vote

Ron Paul is the next best choice after None, not nearly as popular though

Simple really, bringing back this great land of ours to what it was originally founded on. Bringing back the constitution. Getting big government out of our lives and pocket book. No pandering, no big business controlling the candidate.

I could go on and on, you'll find most RP supporters actually know why they support him. Unlike the other candidates who simply get votes because of silly things like their religion affiliation, name recognition, their friend told them to, a 2 minute spot on the evening TV.

It would be nice if more people actually knew the good and bads of their candidate of choice before voting.

    Excellent reply...

On a side note I think anyone supporting Ron Paul is wasting their time. There's no way he will get the nomination. There's no way Hillary is going to let anyone win this one. It's all hers...

It may be hard to believe but officially people still get to vote for who the next president is. So far Hillary isn't going to get it (although, it's far from over.)

I'd say anyone who doesn't support a candidate who they agree with on the issues is wasting their time.

Unfortunately, it seems that too many people in this country vote based on very superficial qualities (both on the right and the left.) We are living in the "Dancing with the Stars" era. As many interested informed people as there *seems* to be on this here crazy internet, there's still a lot more who don't have a clue about what's going on anywhere.

I got a tie for first between Mike Gravel & Dennis Kucinich.

    Last place? Mike Huckabee!

I don't do that well with Ron Paul on these sorts of things because I disagree with him on a lot of smaller issues but I agree with him so much on the big things (foreign policy & civil liberties) that are most important to me. Plus these sorts of issue calculators usually barely (or dont at all) mention any issues of civil liberties. I'd like to see topics like "ending the war on drugs" added to these issues calculators.

She sounds like one of those on the fake huckabee site. Either that or she read it all believing it was true??

(Hopefully she is joking, because it would be sad if she snorted too much and lost it.)

I find that many support ron paul because he is anti-Israel and has issues with Jews in the past. This, above anything else, is why *some* would want to support him. I know the folks at stormfront are ecstatic about his Jewish policies, and a certain religious group who is not fond of Israel and Jews.

Anarchists like him, because Paul doesn't want responsibility for anything or anyone. "Do what you want, when you want and don't worry about the consequences."

9/11 troofers like him, because he panders to them on alex jone's radio show and has confirmed he wants a new investigation into 9/11 (trooferiness).

Neonazis like him, because of his views on blacks (see racist newsletter from early 90s and then see where ron paul and his campaign manager defended the newsletter in 1996). Then see his comments about slavery and the civil war, see his platform of "eliminating the welfare state," etc.

Young angry white males with low IQs like ron paul, because his consistent message is "blame America first." If someone dies in a foreign country, it's America's fault. They like him, because he wants to dismantle America and give more than a fair chance for islamists to attack the US. This is illustrative by his desire to eliminate the FBI, the CIA, Homeland Security, The Patriot Act, not to mention the Department of Education and pretty much every other Federal agency in the country. He wants to eliminate the IRS, but has nothing to replace it with, leaving one wondering what the hell our country would run on?

All this, without any thought of the consequences of just dismantling everything. No objective analysis, no concern for consequences, no concern for what will happen to the economy. Or, perhaps, that's exactly what he's done. He's given thought to dismantling the USA and those very consequences of doing so, are exactly what he wants. No one can look at anything ron paul has to offer and honestly say that it will better America. Ron Paul wants to be the man to single-handedly destroy America, because as he so often eludes to "we deserve it."

So yes, I believe people know exactly who and what they are voting for. Their posts here, in tearing down America every day, are perfectly in line with Ron Paul's goal to do it on a much broader scale.

GTech, instead of trying to speak inaccurately for others, why don't you just stand up and speak for yourself?

Surely you have some convictions, and can elucidate why you support Mike Huckabee?

You certainly could stick to your candidate's principles for starters, and stop the negative campaigning.
