hi ok this is my dilema in a nutshell i have just upped 40 article/adsense sites to a new domain each site having its own subdomain ie http// site1.mydomain.com http// site2.mydomain.com etc etc on my main domain http// www. mydomain.com/index.html i have linked to each site but when i try to do a sitemap it just picks up the 1 page that is hosted on the main domain how can i do a sitemap that will add the whole lot? will google have problems indexing the subdomains? anyone got any advice on what is the best way to get these sites indexed? and if i link from each site to each other sites in the subdomain collection will it help site ranking? thanks for any advice you are willing to share
you are having challenge with the sitemap because of all the new subdomains. you can do a sitemap manually by adding links to all the subdomains which will do the job just fine. like a left/right/bottom menu bar with links to all the subdomains.
thats what i have done on the index page just a list of hyperlinks linking to each subdomain or am i misunderstanding something? the site i am refering to is www.freeadvicepro.com you will see what i mean about just listing the subdomains the main domains content will be sorted next week but it will only really serve to link to the subdomains these sites still have work to be done on them but should be complete with logos etc by the end of next week
For full sitemap of main domain you must change format of links : - http://automotive.freeadvicepro.com/ - change to - ./automotive - then make sitemap. Happy New Year!!
are you saying put each site in a folder on the main domain rather than a subdomain? or am i missing something in html that point to a subdomain ( ./subdomain) ? i have made a sitemap that includes all subdomains and their articles at www.freeadvicepro.com/sitemap.html ( i did this free online at this site http://www.auditmypc.com/xml-sitemap.asp and just let it run 2 links in which covered the whole lot) i am just waiting for google to do a complete indexing (this post should help that too) i will keep you informed on how it evolves
I don't think problem with subdomains. Google love subdomains rather directory names. You just use the Google Third Party Sitemap tool and it will generate for both Google and Yahoo sitemap. Submit them and thats it.

OK now then i have created a sitemap that contains all the pages of all the subdomains but google is now reporting errors in the webmaster tools section it says that urls to subdomains are not valid for this sitemap ARRRGH any tips/pointers on solving this issue one of the main reasons i want this indexed asap is that each site uses a google search box and untill each site is fully indexed the searches are turning up empty (which is annoying)
it is located at www.freeadvicepro.com/sitemap.xml www.freeadvicepro.com/sitemap.html thanks for your input so far
