so I'm bored and wanted to defend vista some more

This is how vista makes things faster for the end user
like I said before, it isn't just an OS it's an AIOS
if you stop looking at your resorce useage, and just use vista for a week without worrying about it, you'll end up loving it

NO, you wont end up running out of ram useage

the main OS needs the same amount of RAM to corely run as XP (if that makes sense)

all of the other memory is used to speed it up more
if you open a new program, superfetch will release some RAM so your new program can operate (or, it will use the memory that's already in use thats cached the program)

before you hate vista because it's using more memory than XP, and think it's bloated
actually read up about WHY it's using more memory

Well after my 6th Xbox 360 breaking down within the first hour of play (the red ring of death) I decided I was going to get my money back no matter what it took and even though Microsoft's policy is to replace faulty products and not refund the money I wouldn't take no for an answer and bullied my way into the refunding me my money for the console and all games/accessories bought.

I also traded in my computer with windows and got a Macintosh. I honestly don't see why everyone doesn't get a Mac. So much smoother and better in every way and if you really need to use a Windows program you can install windows on the Macintosh. Thus eliminating all the virus dangers by using the internet on Mac's OS and only using windows when you absolutely have to.

Your basically getting 2 in 1 with Macintosh and your getting rid of all the virus danger at the same time.

My only problem with Vista is it’s compatibility issues with hardware. I’ve had times when I’d put a PC together with “Vista certified” parts and I’d still have issues with Vista recognizing them. XP on the other hand, I’ve never had compatibility issues with hardware no mater what I would install it on.

I’ve got Vista but I use XP as my main OS. And as far as I’m concerned Vista can’t run as many heavy apps as XP. I run two renders in 3DsMax9 with XP and it finishes an hour, I do the same in Vista and it takes 3. and a Mac would be nice but hardware wise I can build something twice as strong for only $300, much like my current PC.

Vista on laptop is the worse thing what user can do, laptop's CPU arent that good, but first off all, HDD's are slow in laptop, and I guess some lapptop with 5200 or slower HDD will burn with Vista :D
XP is cool, because, it has more skills with everything, mostly less known programs runs on XP without problems, but Vista ....

because OSx isn't anymore secure than any windows OS
because OSx can be ran on 90% of PC's these days, with the help of "osx84"
because Steve Jobs is an annoying cunt who fires people for fun
because a mac is just a PC at the core nowadays. The only thing OSx has up on windows is the GUI, it's a little more prettier

a good alternative would of been linux or freebsd for you, which is a million times better than OSx

OSx is ACTUALLY based upon freeBSD, which is made for a PC

like windows, osx has lots of flaws
viruses? well shit, leptard (yes, it's dubbed leptard now because it has all the same mistakes that windows made with vista)
    http://www.macrumors.com/2006/02/16/the-first-mac-os-x-virus-a-new-os-x-trojan/

it's only time before OSx gains a bigger userbase and more viruses come out for it. And hey, guess what? the OSx userbase is brainwashed to believe that macs are invinsable against viruses, so there's more chance of them falling for it

stop being so naive! stop getting brainwashed by the ads!

    btw, the 360 sucks
only thing it has is the gamebase
which sucks even more, because developers aren't giving the PS3 (which, hardware wise, is much better suited for the future) any good exclusives
which means even more and more 360 fanboys brainwashing people into thinking the 360 actually is the better console

    it's the opposite for me
I always have problems installing XP on all my machines at the end of the day

even if it's something as small as LAN drivers

vista works out of the box with 99% of things (just gotta disable that annoying sidebar), and I just have to download stuff like AIM/msn/photoshop.. ect

with XP I have to install it, then go on my laptop, download all of the LAN drivers, put 'em on my usb key and transfer the files onto my desktop and install them before I can download any of the programs I want

the only programs I've had problems with are my router firmware upgrade ones.... from 2001

Congratulations on getting Microsoft to pay up on it's faulty products. I have a couple of friends that also got the 3 ring of death and Microsoft just keeps "Fixing them". You'd think that by the third time they would just send you back your money.

For years, Microsoft has made bigger versions of its core products, in the belief that customers want more and more features. That thinking may have undergone a reversal, with the recent revelation that Redmond is working on a stripped-down version of the Windows kernel that would dramatically reduce its footprint.

thats great and all, but when vista releases the memory for the new program where does it go ? straight to the hard drive.

that means you actually need more ram for vista then xp needed to do the same thing, but vista should preform beater with bigger amounts of memory.

    true that

but there's also readyboost that'll solve the problem for computers with low amounts of ram

sure, no good for a laptop

but for a desktop it's perfect

Doesn't make it obsolete, unless all Windows versions before Vista including XP are obsolete because Vista is the latest released version of Windows.

Ummm OSx is based on BSD you are correct, you should also read the link you just posted this is NOT a virus, no more of a virus then me writing a bash scrip that requires root and deleting everything off your computer.

This is simply exploiting user stupidity, not a flaw in the OS unlike Windows XP and Vista viruses which exploit flaws in the OS.

I am not OSX fan boy I don't even like Mac, I'm a *nix geek but there is no OSX virus yet.

I think there is some logic missing here.

20 million copies were sold in the first month - double the number XP sold in its first month. People must surely not like XP then, obviously, if I use your very fallible logic. And to say compare what Vista has taken up in 11 months compared to what XP took up in 6 years is kinda unfair really.

btw, its not "bloated ware" it would be "bloatware" :)
