If you'r talking about resale values of .name, they suck unless you own the very top keywords, then you might be able to make a little bit of money. If you're talking about SEO, the extention doesn't really matter, it's the keywords in the actual domain name that helps with rankings

I personally can't stand .name domains. They're pretty useless IMHO.

Like said above, the big keywords can sell well . . .

    I recently sold Bracelet(dot)name for $800

Also, these can be easy to find since many people don't like or use these.

    Just my $.2

only the few premium keywords will really do well on a .name extension and yes, there are still a lot of nice keyword combos available for hand registration so resale would most likely yield to a lower value or not even a reg fee.

I begin to know it worth. Some of our customers registered a lot these days. Can somebody give some keywords and we are trying to register them.

    Good keywords are always good.

Good premium keywords are always worth your investment no matter what the extension is,and .name is no exception.

I think you are right. But I registered a lot of better keywords .name domains. It seems that google doesnot give .name a better position.

Can someone give an example of better position of .name keyowords in google.

    Thanks in advance!

if you want only to resell the domains, it is worth to get now some good .name domains, you will find a lot of dummies who think that owning a short domain will bring them a lot of traffic without any effort.

If you want to work on these domains, you will find out that owning a short .name domain isn't any different from a medium .com domain. After you do SEO including link building, you will find out that having the domain name as your keywords was only an insignificant advantage. Not any problem yet, but if you get on top,( first 3 in your niche ), being in top 3 search results for your keywords, getting huge amount of traffic, you will realize that most of the visitors, who liked your website and want to visit it again, will not remember if it was a .name, probably they think that it was a .com, or .net, or .org, .info .uk .us .co.uk , etc etc. This is happening because when the visitors read the GREAT keyword, for example healthdirectory.name, they will try to guess what is inside, and not to remember your extension.

The best thing is to choose a domain name that don't mean anything, because, they will take it as it is, and remember it, with the extension too. For example, amazon.com . what would be happening if it was amazon.name , you can remember it as it is, "amazon.name" - "amazon name". But, if it was: onlinebooks.name or booksforsale.name bookstore.name, when you read "online books" "books for sale" "book store" you think at the meaning of this words, and remember it like "book store", how you remember a shop from your street, but when you want to come back, you realize that you remember that it was only a "book store", you can't remember it's address.

    thedark,

You are very right. It really depends on what you are going to do with your .name domain.

    Thanks

.name domains are yet to gather momentum but its r\the content that determines its worth. Honestly, I still dont know why that extension was introduced.

I think the problem with .name is it's commercial value, at least for now.

Depend on the domain name, content and how best you optimize it, search engine will never going to make any differences with tld.
