Hi everyone, I was wondering what people's view on PageRank is - do you think it is important anymore and other factors like content is better or are those of you who still believe in it and follow it's ways. To start this off, my view is that it isn't what you should concentrate on, but it must still be important if Google and Matt Cutts is making so much effort to eradicate bought links on the basis of manipulating PR. Cheers, I'd be interested to hear any views. Mischa
Is important for those who buy/sell links like owners of paid directories. But is not a metric of traffic or site quality.
It's paid links that ruined the value of PR. Because now, you can have a crappy website and buy links on a authority PR7 website, diminishing that site's value with your spammy link. I only look at PR when doing link exchange. I prefer to focus on SEO stuff that I have control over rather than try to boost a somewhat artificial parameter like PR.
pr is only useful when judging the value of a link exchange or buying a 1 way link, however on my first seo trial on my original site i did not even know about webmaster forums and all i did was troll through search results and contacted webmasters the old skool way for high valuelink exchanges, you will be surprised at what some webmasters will do for another if asked nicely
Lets Just say, it can determine the number of links pointing to your site.. then with a high PR, ull get traffic
PR is just to earn some companies gives ads according to your site PRs they pays on same basis while reselling the site , your PR is counted the most !!
Totally false. You can get links from a few high PR sites (with almost zero traffic each) and gain a boost in your PR. But your traffic will remain almost the same.
PageRank is a measure of how many "quality links" you have - more of a measure on the effort you place in your site in terms of collecting links. It is not an indicator of quality of the site neither traffic. PageRank influences search rankings slightly (but other factors are far more important than PageRank). But most people still use PageRank to judge a site/page. *An increase in does not always correspond to an increase in traffic. Neither is the converse. (So, PageRank is essentially for bragging rights. )
For those who says PR is just a number, this is an interesting reading.... http://www.html4seo.com/seo-pdf/google-pagerank-serp-statistics.pdf
You can find so many PR 2,3,4 websites outperforming PR 5,6,7 competitors. Many great and powerful links are out there that do not have PR but are relevant and great.
Watching that graphs, seems that is easier to be on #1 with lower PR each month. Extrapolating those graphs, it will be possible to be on #1 for a PR0 on a few years.
It has nothing to do with rankings, the only thing it works is for showing off! You should be more worried about your website's ranking and not PR.
