$75 Logo Contest

I would like to get a logo for my company YYZ Media. In terms of logo, I would like to leave it up to the creativity of the designers, but if you could inforporate the city Toronto in some form, this would be great too. I am looking for something with a web2.0 kind of style, that is a little playful and a little serious. Hope you know what I mean.

    Contest Details:
Prize: The base contest is for $50 - to the winner of the best logo. I will then give an additional $25 when chosen if you can incorporate the logo into a nicely laid out business card.
Contest Duration: All entries must be in by 6pm EST Sunday January, 6th.
Feedback: I will provide feedback to all contestants throughout the contest.
Payment Options: Payment will be sent via paypal after all files have been received.
Logo Sizes: I would like to have the logo in 3 sizes. One big one (for when the site is under construction), a medium one (similar to the DP logo in the top left in more of a header format), and a small one for the business cards.

If you have any other questions whatsoever, don't hesitate to post here, or send me a PM. PM's are probably best though as it will send me an email.

    Good luck!

I mean I want it to be fun (ie. a little cartoony), but not so much that people don't take it seriously.

    Hi Ariestoteles,

    Here is my feedback:
I like how you used the CN Tower (one of Toronto's biggest landmarks for those who know nothing about toronto), but I am looking for more of a glossy web2.0 kind of look. The image is a little flat/bland, and I would like something that jumps out at the reader a little more. I also like how you showed that business card too!

    Thanks,

    Graham

Well considering the letters are wrong, it is hard to provide proper feedback, but I like the creativity.

I like the glossyness of your design, plus the maple leaf that you used in the D of MEDIA. This is exactly what I mean by more web 2.0 look. I am not too fond of the lines underneath it. If possible could you remove these lines and try to incorporate the CN Tower or Toronto Skyline some how. For those who don't know, the CN Tower was (until very recently) the tallest freestanding structure in the world. Also, if you could show how the layout could look on a business card too, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all for the entries so far!

    Thanks Ariestoteles

    Important Update
    - To help give you a better understanding of my style let me give you a few more things that I like, that you may be able to incorporate into your design:

    - I like coat of arms designs
    - The pseudo crest and flora (the first 2 on that page - flora is probably one of my favorite styles) designs on this page: http://www.logolounge.com/articles/default.asp?Archive=True&ArticleID=540
    - I like the Embellish (The Gridlock and Reb ones) and Filagree (Cinco de Mayo) styles on this page: http://www.logolounge.com/articles/default.asp?ArticleID=515 (Note - if you try one of these, it doesn't have to be 3D. I just said 3D before because I wasn't sure if people could really do that kind of fancy style, and figured 3D was the safest way to go.

These may throw you off a little from the original request, but I would like everyone to submit a variety of different styles so that I can pick the best one. I may even offer a runner up prize of $20 if there is another one that I really like too.

Just to add... I think I prefer darker colors than the bright ones on a logo.

    Hi Ariestoteles,

I like that you tried the floral design, but I also understand they are very difficult to do. I like them with a lot more going on and less flowery (ie. the flowers kind of blend into the background). Possibly the ones on the page I linked to were not the best examples. The psuedo crest ones may be a little easier. Also, I am not a big fan of the color combination you used. I think I prefer Red/Black, Yellow/Black, or Blue/Black color combos, but also like the same things with just White instead of black.

I appreciate you giving it a shot!

    Hi Itay,

Thanks for your submission. I think it is a little too basic/generic though and doesn't really capture some of the things that I have mentioned in this thread.

    All the best,

    Graham

Similar to Itay's entry, it is a little too generic (ie. mostly stock images). Also, the font is very plain, and the text doesn't seem to flow very well together.

Addition Prize: If the winner really blows me away with their design, I will add a $25 bonus. But this means it has to be REALLY good. So technically you can make $100 from this thread. I wish I could offer more, but this is a brand new company not making anything yet, so maybe one day I can pay more.
