$1 is only worth 50p here in the UK, so the dollar is rubbish...INR seems even worse, what can you get with $40 INR? I'd like to know, and then compare that with what I can get for 50p....I actually want to know, no racism.

    Are you asking me?

If so, yes, 40 INR is not a big amount even in India and I can't get even a nice cup of coffee (about 60 INR) with it :) The purchasing power parity of Indians is just about 6 times less than (But 1 USD = 40 INR) that of Americans. I hope that helps :)

Yes, it's definitely worth more in some cases. But not too much like many people are thinking :) The PPP factor can be a good statistical variable for understanding this

True. It really has to do with the PPP.

I cant understand this thread...OP is not sure whether the person was from India or not and still he created this thread, if Paying 75 cents was not his priority, then he should not have hired a person doing a particular job for 75 cents, The person has full right to claim his money whether its 75 cents or a big amount and your priorities do not matter here.

Well, A 330ml can of coke costs about Rs 20 ($0.5) , A McDonald's Meal (Burger + Coke + Fries) will set you back by around Rs 120 ($ 3), a decent internet connection costs around Rs 900-1200/mo ($25), movie tickets cost around Rs 100-150 each ($2.5-3.5) can't really think of anything else.

lets take it as normal and stop shouting at each other..

yea 75cents means a lot its not that we are all born millionaire...

even 3-4 yrs back i used to die for 20-30 cents working all day with get paid to read emails where i would get 2-3 cents per emails.
Now i don't have to do that but i respects every cents.
    every cents counts..

anyway in my country $1 worth 65 NR
worth 1 pack of cigarette and a bottle of coke.

Might be for an iTrader rating. When I did my first job on rentacoder, I made a logo for 3$ or so, just to get that rating :)

One last time: it's not the money it's that your word means nothing. If you promise to pay then pay. How is anybody suppose to trust you if you can't keep your word.

I don't think payment is an issue here...people seem to be offended since you said he was an indian, when you weren't even sure. You implied Indians were like beggars who are desperate for even 75c. Your humor is in poor taste mate.
