Hi! I found a not so short list of useless directories. Here is the list: blogadr.com - No traffic, no juice, Uses Popup link, cluttered with Adsense blogburst.com - Absolutely usless spammy service blogdigger.com - Plain junk, search engine doesn’t even work. blogflux.com - No traffic, no juice, Uses jump link to link out bloggernity.com - No traffic, no juice, Uses jump link to link out blogrankers.com - No traffic, no juice, Uses jump link to link out blogroll.net - No traffic, no juice, Uses jump link to link out blogtoplist.com - No traffic, no juice, Uses jump link to link out fuelmyblog.com - No traffic, no juice, Uses jump link to link out topblogarea.com - No traffic, no juice, Uses jump link to link out topblogging.com - No traffic, no juice, Uses jump link to link out top-blogs.com - No traffic, no juice, Uses jump link to link out blogskinny.com - Never, ever submit here, they will spam you to death However, the other day, I found blogflux.com in the first or second page in google search. Any comment, pls.? Moreover, is there a sure way on how to prove that a particular directory is useless like having no traffic? Thanks!
you need to add another 3,004,444 to that list and you will be close. Crappy, useless directories pop up everyday and folks don't just make one or two at a time anymore, they make 5 or 10 at a time.
How sadly true! Whenever I see a post in DP's Directories > Solicitations and Announcements for something like "10 brand-new, free directories", I automatically skip it. How could there possibly be any serious quality or editorial carefulness in a listing of ten all-new directories owned by one person?
Hey, is that really the exact number? If so, then I will need to make another blog entitled "Useless Directories" LOL. Anyway, so how can we check if a particular directory is useful of not? Is there a site to visit? Thanks!
I agree that there are MANY useless directories out there. What i am more interested in is... how did you figure out that number?
random big number, lol. I don't really get the pick a winner thing but what I look for is any directory where it appears the owner has done anything above the minimum to get it going. Including: custom or customized template, custom or customized categories, articles, blog, custom content, interesting and helpful modifications.
Since it is basically free to make a crappy directory I guess people are figuring, zero cost = why not make many? My guess is they intend to build up some traffic by offering free submissions then try and sell the directory to make some quick cash.
How dare you list all of my directories in this way. just joking A directories usefulness i guess is determined by what anyone deems useful. The above have one thing in common anyway, all obviously blog related.
This was the reason for my earlier comment. I still think making a directory is as easy as starting a blog. Lots of people can do it, but obviously there are crappy blogs just like there are crappy directories. The entry standards are low. But the main point is what you do with the blog/ directory after its started. Your effort in building its value and promoting it will be rewarded with a valuable and useful resource for the internet community. People are willing to pay for value. If a directory doesn't provide value than I don't consider it useful or necessary. People are correct when they say there are too many directories. They just forget to include there are not enough GOOD ones.
There are never enough directories, because their constantly dying, and how good something is will be down to personal taste. Something that you think is poor, i may think is cool and vice versa. People only complain about the amount out there because its competition for the rest, if you know yours is great then the amount out there should be less of a worry. But if you make yours only for people with deeper pockets then you still have a problem to deal with, plus your missing out on a lot of potential business by snubbing the webmasters on a tight budget.
Ehem, excuse me guys but I think I have a pending question: So, here it is again: How would someone be sure that a particular directory is junk even before he joins in? And as I have stated here on my initial post, I saw blogflux in the list, but I also saw this ranking in the 1st page of google search! Does this mean they can still invite bloggers who wish to be junk. Thanks!
Did you read opening post? blogflux.com - No traffic, no juice, Uses jump link to link out Do not look at total traffic of their homepage, but at traffic sent outside. And it's easy to find links in directory doesn't pass any power to your site. And better look over your own rank, your own business and money than any other, as this second won't bring any good for you.
