How do I get more backlinks/inbound links to my site.

I have had a steady amount of organic google/yahoo traffic to my site, but I feel like my site has plateaued. The site is a music review/chart site that lists bands and provides mp3's. The site is updated daily and it has a few great inbound blog/website inbound links. How could I increase the number of links pointed toward my site, and if anyone has any other pointers, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

well I had used several free ways of linking my page. But the pay ones are better. Take a look on Jon Leger 3 way links system. It had worked for me.

one way link is even better than 3 way. Here’s how you can build some free one way links fast.

Search for free directory, website directory, submit directory, etc and you will find lot of results. Submit to as many as you can under relevant category.

Search for related sites where you can add links to. For example, if your site is related to football, then you can search for “football add url” or “football add link” and you will find some sites where you can add your link to.

Search for related blog articles and add relevant comments on the blog post. You can search for football add comment or football blog add comment, etc. be creative on your search terms to find variation of results. When you add comments on a blog, it is important to remember that you need to add some value to the blog post and submit related comment. DO NOT SPAM any blog

Search for free press release or submit free press release and submit your article to as many PR sites you can. You can add anchor text link on a press release article.

This will get you going for some time. Hope that helps.

Here is the tool to find blogs with dofollow ability where you can build quality one way links for free.
Like what sultanofseo has mentioned and i agreed with him that you should always add value to blog post and do not spam any blog.
DoFollow Searcher Tool --> Try it and get results

yes, but that gives you quality related backlinks. you decide where to get links from. you can get 2800 links in few minutes (submit to blog networks for few dollards only) but they will do more harm than good. its always quality over quantity.

Quality over Quantity is not the best way. It can vary. And depends greatly on your needs/goals.

I've visited your site. It has a good amount of backlinks. As I understand you want to get more strong backlinks for higher PR as far as you are satisfied with traffic rank.
In this case backlinks from related sites, selective directory submission, pay per post services, and social bookmarking - all of this together will be useful for your site whatever goals you want to achieve.

Try out receive links and/or payperpost. They will do exactly what you are looking for.

It's pretty easy to get backlinks using receive links. The Free account has all you need if you are just a 1-5 site type webmaster.

    1) Squidoo
    2) Backpage.com
    3) Blogger.com. Honestly there are many free blog generation tools as well.
    4) Make templates for myspace, wordpress, joomla, mambo, etc.. and put your link at the bottom then give them away free
    5) Post in online forums like this one
    6) Social Bookmarking
    7) Link Directories
    8) Submit articles to ezinearticles.com
    9) Find local magazines or even online magazine in your niche and ask if you can write for them

    that should get you started!
