OK. For community or SNS (social networking sites), how many members do you need before your site is worth $1 million and is taken seriously? Based on genuine membership base alone even though your site may not be making any money! Thanks
activity counts more than strictly the number of members. some sites have tons of members but very little activity & daily visits.
I've been looking at the wikipedia list of social networking sites, and the lowest on there seem to have around 70,000.
I'd say that with 10,000+ *real* contributing, returning members your community website would be growing rapidly and in a very good position to start making serious money/influence. I could be wrong though... it depends on your niche just as much as your traffic, after all, 10K gossiping teenaged girls won't earn you as much as 10K brokers/programmers/business owners.
You know your site has hit the big time when Google or NewsCorp contacts you with an interest in purchasing it.
google offered me $3,879,900 for my gambling site today... I'm holding out I think lots of people would love to give me money to gamble
wow... that is super big time 'cos if they contact me, they would be talking numbers of $100 million and above. I would be happy with a few % of that number
