I want to use the same analytics code from google on multiple websites.
To track the overall traffic of all of them.

Will it work? I tryed Statcounter and works but is nothing compared to ananytlics.:)

I would also recommend this, but imaging you have 100 sites (proxy sites in my case, not 100 actually :p ). And imagine creating a new code and copy-pasting into each one. It will take a lot of time...

That is true, but cheaters are everywhere. The sad truth.

    No problem dude.

I have a network of 10 proxy sites. It will take me a lot of time to get a separate code and track each of them separately, thats why I decided to track them as a whole. That is the purpose of using the same code on multiple sites in my case. :)

My recommendation would be to post individual codes on each one, them make a code called ALL and post that to all of your sites. Only having one number will not allow you to see which sites are performing poorly. You need that information. I can understand just wanting a single number for the entire network, and there is nothing against putting two codes on a page as long as you differentiate them.

    Hope that helps!

The proxy sites is exactly what I'm the problem of too.
I need a way to keep track of the overall traffic of all of them, rather tracking each one individually. Really it gets to the point where you have so many sites you get kind of lost with it all.

If you use same analytics code in multiple site the traffic would be counted into one account. Like for example you use same code in siteA and siteB the traffic would be added like siteA + siteB = traffic of two site. You won't know which site has good traffic.

Maybe what you want to do is to have one analytics account for multiple site with different code. If this is what you're trying to do just access your analytics account and Add Website Profile.

It's not the same... In fact, only the last number is different, everything else is the same.

Actually the 4th step from the FAQ link I provided above shows how to see the stats for each of the sites you track individually, using 1 analytics code. I am using it right now and here is what I see in the stats (see the bottom right part):

As you see I can actually track every single domain/site I have put the code to separately, and I can also see every details such as visitors location etc using one analytics code.

Did you understand Step 2? I have a link from each site going to one page which shows all the other proxies. Do I have to put that code around any links that connect pages which are all being tracked at once?

I dont have experience in tracking links between domains. I use tracking for multiple sites, just for tracking the visits, countries, most popular pages etc...

Site meter works too & statcounter, I've tested it.
The bonus is it updates instantaneously, while Google tracking you have to wait 24 hours.

Google Analytics doesn't update every 24 hours, it is updated more often. It is just the todays stats are not shown, before the day is over. You can see the real time stats (with a few hours delay of course) with selecting the todays day in the time period in the dashboard.
