I say it depends what you are trying to accomplish. My content is based on the domain name 97% of the time.

General domains = general content. Something like Electricity.com shouldn't have stuff about dancing, you know?

You need to take both into consideration.

A domain name is useless without content. But a domain name has the potential to be worth more money. No amount of content is going to be worth a domain name like sex.com or business.com

That means you are taking an alternate route and instead of buying a generic name, you will be branding a name. Sort of like delicious and stumbleupon.com... it works, but you need to work hard at it.

Some names are worth more than their content.

Give me any three letter dot com over content.

It depends, are you talking about the resale value of a domain verses a domain with site content? If so, it all depends on the quality of the domain & also the quality, traffic & revenue of the site.

I believe myspace.com sold for more than sex.com.

Content and content only is important . It for the most part, doesn't matter what the domain name is. for examole johnchow.com is one of the highest ranked blogs and it is a personalised domain name which did not block anything. Dont be pre occupied with domain name.

Pick up a domain name which has your desired keywords, and put up good quality content on it.

Use both of them to your advantage :p

Thats not true, youtube.com sold for $1.65 billion, as domain name without content it would have been worth reg fee imo.

yup, that right. Im very selective about domain since it paid more on long term investment in term of bidding a domain name and help much when deal with seo.

However, a good domain is useless if the content is zero. :D

I think many names are just getting visitors without good content.
dafinatly for content u r working hard to make them good .But if u make good combination i think both have same values.

I think Site/Domain Name is more important because domain name indicates in which field you are dealing, second things domain content plays a vital role to increase SERP and PR.

Sometimes content is more important but the domain is always important. Let us explain -Suppose you have a website myspace.com and it will be closed. After many years no body will visit the myspace.com where if you have a domain like email.com or any adult domain like sex.com ,it is important till the internet is there. Three years before sex.com domain is sold for 14million dollar.
