Yeah, I know, GoDaddy sucks blah blah blah... I didn't know this when I signed up, they were the commercial brand, I knew nothing about websites, so that's how it happened. I'll ride it out now, anyways, my site went down, they said it's a 'known problem' when I called at 2:30 AM and told me to 'go to bed and check in the morning'. It's now 4:30... how long do these things usually take? what's weird is that my FTP client will now connect but the site won't load. Can anyone offer some insight?
They will solve that i am sure.I have an wordpress blog which is down now. I e-mailed them and waiting for reply but i don't think Godaddy sucks.Of course is just my second month with them and my blog is just a few days old so i am not very worried that the visitors will be mad .
When you choosing a web host you want to choose one thats not to small but not to big either this way they can focus on their clients and give the best support. Go to webhostingtalk.com, webhosting forum, there are tons of hosts there and reviews I would check them out..
I've been with them for seven months, and this is the first problem. The guy wasn't a complete dick, but I didn't like having to wait 50 minutes to talk to someone when the recording said 8 minutes, and I didn't like how the guy was like 'we know what's wrong, go to bed and check back in the morning.' It just doesn't help that I've agreed in principal to a pretty big sponsorship deal, which I'm supposed to close tomorrow, and then my sites down. How is that going to make me look if it isn't up when these people check it out? It's going to look real bad, and if they blow this for me, I'm going to be fucking pissed. I've been hitting reload over and over, I can't relax.
i understand this stuff happens, you'll have it everywhere... so one time in half a year isn't some huge deal, it's the timing that's killing me
There's not much you can do by staying up and checking it every second. Just keep your fingers crossed and hope it will be fixed asap! If I were you, as already suggested by someone else, I'd change the DNS of the domain to the ones of another hosting company. There are some good, cheap deals out there with reliable companies, like hostgator, dreamhost or site5. That's you best a safest bet I guess. Good luck mate, I reckon this really s*cks *ss :x
Yay, and here I am trying to figure out why the hell don't my blogs work. Well, this was a reason to update to latest wordpress, lol Damn, I gotta move away from Godaddy. It's been like 5 hours for me now. Sucks.
Pffieuw, that's bad. Seems like there are more people with similar issues. You should really consider moving your hosting. Registering with GoDaddy is great, just change the DNS and off ya go! I just checked the prices and stuff on GoDaddy hosting, it's not even that great..There are various people that offer cheap hosting and good service. And if you have multiple websites you'd be better off clicking on the deal at site5 in my sig, and when you get it you'll do me a favor as well They have a 99.9% uptime garentuee and if they can't live up to that they'll give you $ back. mine just came back about three hours ago, and everything is fine and well. The people I was dealing with understand computer issues, and the fact that I host with GoDaddy helped, because the common man thinks they are the 'best'. Their words were, "If they can afford Dale Earnhardt Jr. They're doig something right." lol. Whatever, I'm paid until January 2009, so it looks like GoDAddy has me until next year.
I know its anoying when I say "you get what you pay for", but its the truth Im glad of my hosting, its not cheap, but at least I know that when they say in their "not so typical" website you get this for $15, then that is what I get. As you ofcourse by now know, most cheap hosting oversells. They may actually give you Unlimited space and bandwidt, but what can you use it to, when they in there ToS or other agreements limit how many visitors can connect at the same time, that the picture of Jessica alba in bikini is considered adult or that your website is suspended because it used 0,0x% CPU power Sorry, Im just glad I dont have those problems
A buddy of mine has been hosted at Godaddy for a year in December & never experiences this kind of stuff. I'm the one that handles most of the technical stuff & the only problems I've ever had were blocked port issues when writing status checkers for his games.
