hey nice domain! eskimo...wow...if you put the arcade on the front page, and really got it fixed up nice, that would be a popular site
Well for some total strange reason this morning i woke up and decided to open a arcade site a few years back when i was about the age of 14 i used to run 2 webistes well it was the same one but it went down and i brought it back it was quite popular at school etc and i reached over 250 members with in the first week but i could not afford to host it for a second time and it went down. Now i have got a steady job and income and have more money than ever to put into my sites so today i plan to get a host decide on a script and domain and have all of the weekend to get it up and running Wish Me Luck
Today is the first day my site has picked up after the christmas holidays. I'm glad to see it too because for a minute I was about to worry. I also run several other sites that require schools to be open or the traffic flops.
well i have just bought the domain name www.actualarcade.com and i think i am going to use a old style i used before using the phpnuke-evolution system as there is many good add-ons avialable for the v3 arcade i have purchased hosting and am awaiting cp info then i will go ahead with the uploading of the files
Well, I would like to tell you all about my new ebook I have some seriously good strategies and techniques that enabled me to get 30,000 uniques/day and sell a game site (Boot Gamer) for $20k profit. Hope you'll check the book out (see signature) and maybe let me know what you all think about the site. Sorry - just a shameless bit of promotion, hehe. Hope that nobody minds.
phpNuke is OK, but you should really check out Arcadem Pro or phpArcadeScript for a much more specific solution. phpNuke is "heavy" - it has a lot of features that you simply do not need. phpArcadeScript is pretty darn good at handling high loads, too.
Good luck with the site, lets us know when it up and running so we can check the site out, and give you some good advice.
Well,, I have one or two mini sites, BUT I have also just created a facebook adaption of my site which you can install here: There are a few things that I need to clear up, but please install it on your profile so that I can get listed in the facebook apps directory! http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=8546831715 Also, if anyone else is interested I am am willing to sell turnkey copies of the same site, so let me know by PM if you are! thanks MOG
I'm a little burned out on a shopping niche. For the first few months, I made a little over $200. However, I earned every penny of that. When I don't add new content constantly, everyone's gone again. Plus with the holidays over, I'm not even sure I'll be able to repeat the $200. I know the problem stems from needing more promotion and I didn't do any advertising other than directories and posting on related sites, so I may not be giving it a fair shake. (I'm not giving up yet, but will look at new strategies soon.) Anyway, I have to be honest this gaming site stuff looks like fun hobby. I don't care if it doesn't make me rich, as long as it doesn't demand a ton of time updating the site. Which script(s) are the most autopilot that still keep 'em coming back? I'm not afraid of doing a little php coding, so also which are the easiest to tweak? Finally, have you had any major security issues? (I hate constant patches that break everything.) Thanks in advance guys.
I am trying to decide between the Arcadem Pro or phpArcadeScript for my site. Looking at both scripts as a newbie in the arcade area they both look good and its just a toss up. Can you guys give me your opinions on the 2? Oh and if it makes a difference for either one of them I do not know how to code. thanks
I use arcadem pro on 3 of my arcade sites and I am very happy with the script. And its very easy to use, and you don't need to know much about codes, you can changes allmost everything from the admin.
I see there are a number of different game packs out there...how many games on average do you have on your sites and how much disk space does it require?
There are good strategies for attracting new traffic that will allow you to keep the site on autopilot by simply adding a bit of new content and promoting it via those strategies. phpArcadeScript v3.0 is pretty secure. You still have to add content, though. Putting those "gamepacks" on your site is only going to decrease the mean quality of your content! You can get by adding 2 games per day if done properly. I would say that GameSiteScript is the easiest to tweak because the included templates vary so much in basic layout.
Since you do not know how to code, get Arcadem Pro for the simple reason that the design is much better out-of-the-box, so you won't have to do any coding to modify it. The backend interface is like using a Mac. phpArcadeScript is better for coders.
Lots of disk space if you use a game pack. Don't use those; they distribute content by infringing on licenses and copyrights. Plus, they're low-quality. Add the games yourself, write your own descriptions and upload your own screenshots. Good for SEO and good for repeat traffic.
Hey, I remember you. Got a game sponsored by you a while ago and talked to you on AIM. Got my own site now, but am interested in the ebook. -Kyle
Great and informative thread. I'm a newbie and will be setting up my first arcade site soon and planning to use Arcadem Pro. Would like to know what are the hosting requirements (monthly space and bandwidth) for running a smooth arcade site?
I agree, buying gamepacks is a real harm to your site....just grab new games and make your own icons and your own descriptions and so on!
