Moving up in SERPS

I am one month old in Online earning and learning my way through experiment and analysis. In recent past I have found a very interesting thing. Maybe everyone might be knowing it.

I have couple of blogs and whenever I make a post it stands nowhere in SERPS in first 100 results, However if I digg it using digg.com And use the keyword of the post the Digg.com url which has my post stands tall within first 10 results..

So I am assuming that it is the backlinks to a page (website) that can move your results up in the SERPS..? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Great so I was right. So other than free traffic one can use digg to promote site for a while till u collect the backlinks and become old enough so that u dont need digg... :)

    thanks w3bmaster for ur comment.

What you want it good quality links. Basically links that have high PR. PR basically means that the link is comming from a popular page and hence is more powerful. If you have a bunch of pr 0 pages linking to you it doesn't really count. Most digital point forum sigs have pr 0. The reason digg is effective is because digg doesn't use nofollow attributes.

If you want to know a little secret to get good pr pages to link to you is to make several blogs and then post the popular stories from digg onto the blog (using the digg tools). When you do that digg makes a list of links to the pages that blogged the story and hence provides a link to your blog with the pr. After a while of blogging those popular stories your blog will also get high pr. Then use that high pr blog to link to you site with whatever keyword you wish.

There are a lot of factors that go into serp rankings but links are the most important especailly getting good links.

its because your site is still of lower relevence to the search engine for your chosen keyword than digg.com is. because digg is considered to be a social authority and your site is still new, googles algo determined that the people of diggs opionion regarding your keyword is more relevent than the content of your site based upon numerous factors. this will change over time as you increace the ammount of links to your site and work on optimising your page.

those were some awesome reply's and I would definitely follow them...

Being a beginner, how can I look for good links . First thing is obvious
    1) I will be looking for free web directory submission ( since i have just started and can't affort the paid links as of now).
    2) Where can i get a chart of how many pr2,3 ... and so links will be required get my site atleast pr3 .
    3) I have submitted one of my health blog on blogspot to 100 directories in the start of DEcemeber but it is not listed on any of the directory.

Any clarification/reponses would be highly appreciated.

My advice is, first submit your page to google and wait until your site got indexed, when its done or waiting for it promote your site and build more links. I think it will be on the SERP by a month or so . . . But if you are using keywords that is not on your page it will certainly not visible on SE.

There are a lot of factors that can change the rankings, but yes, one of them is quality backlink (such as from Digg). Others include age of the backlink, backlinks to the page that contains the backlink, relevancy of the page content that contains tha backlink etc etc...

For some very recent websites, it is normal to see sudden jumps in rankings. Yes links are nowadays considered determining factors in websites rankings on the web.

Ruben From what I have heard about it is IT take months ( i said I have heard :) ) to get a place in there and its one of the most reputed one out there, no offense met for high pr directories.

Yes Hersheys the digg.com link disappears within couple of days.

Bermuda U r so so right. When I had launched lyrics blog and posted just one movie lyrics.. I was excited to see my lyrics blog surpassing all the reputed lyrics site and getting number one spot on google and traffic on the first day at my blog was the highest till date but soon It dropped real bad in SERPS :D
and now I am fighting my way back.

    Thanks for the comment mergee

Writing good content (for the link baiting effects), read and comment on other blogs, write and submit articles, custom post on others blog, buy text link ads under the radar, social bookmarking website like digg and del.icio.us, and build up lenses on Squidoo.

Any other easy way I left out?

Digging with Digg really makes a lot of difference but you must also realize that what these social bookmarking sites do is to give your site a boost in terms of rankings but they totally give you artificial traffic in return which is not that good because this will help you boost traffic but not CTR especially if you are earning through AdSense Ads.

What you actually need is to give your site a boost through natural organic search rankings ie., directory submissions, blog networking, forum networking and more.In general, link building and building optimized content. This way you get legitimate traffic that you can convert into clicks and $.
