So,my PP account got limited on 12/27(merry xmas to me i guess)and finally got removed today after 1 call and about 10 emails.seems that they found 2 gambling links as well as some pharma related links that had got approved.I try to keep links like that out because of this, but some got through somehow...Just a reminder...regardless if you charge or not,if you accept PP on your site and they find these links,PP will find you!My life was almost a living hell because of non-directory related subscription monies that i lost..Beware
Sorry to hear your plight.. just curious to know what kind of pharma links were those that created this problem...
What does your PAYPAL account have to do with Gambling or pharma related links I don’t believe that was the reason?
they have limited 10 of my accounts, I am just too lazy to fight over the emails, so i just make new accounts
It often is, read their TOS. This is because online gambling is illegal in some parts of the US, so Paypal made it their policy not to allow any payments to do with gambling through their service. In some cases this includes disallowing payments for links that go out to casino websites. I get the impression that it really depends on who you're dealing with, and that some Paypal employees will interpret this ruling more or less strictly. There have to be some shades of grey about what exactly constitutes a gambling website anyway. Does it only include places where you can place bets online, or do they also mean all of the websites dedicated to discussing gambling or linking to other gambling websites?
lmao... but very true PS if you dont want static then change your paypal link ID... Rather then have the link show up in your paypal after submittion has been made make it so that it gives a number #005 instead or just the directories name that it was submitted too then verify it by the email used laterz malcolm
But as the OP told, even if they are not paid via paypal, you get limited Anybody who gets banned , tell them, its a form of advertisement and not a real gambling.
So i read yust all of this. Im from the netherlands and started a bid directory strictly for casino related websites.... If im correct my paypal can be bannend in the near future?.......
Sorry to hear templates. Let them no it was an advert, not a wage set forward to be gambled. Well said. I have the Spam Guard Mod which works great at this. Exactly Say what MH said. I guess im safe being a UK resident
templates sorry to hear of your temporary problems regarding your account, im pleased for you that it is now lifted. tmoneys you have 10+ paypal accounts? i thought the limit was 2, like personal and business. mikey1090 are you sure that UK residents are safe? i know that a US law should not be used for UK users, but we all know how complicated things can get, can you confirm that being in the UK will not put a paypal account in any danger regarding this matter? Would it come down to finer points, like is your site sitting on US servers, UK servers? etc Lastly, is anyone running a adult or gambling directory and using one of the specialist payment processors for those industries? and not using paypal at all with those niche directories? Anyone done any research into the specialist payment companies?
Pipes, I think Paypal's UK Headquarter (which is in London) - paypal.co.uk - works under UK laws. Once your UK bank account is verified you should be ok then. I don't think it will ever come down to the web servers or other similar things. It is only about the fact that you own a UK address and bank account. Not 100% sure but I never heard of an UK citizen having his account closed/blocked for gambling related issues. Hope this helps
Hi loredan, thanks, this really helps to know this, i didn't realise this and feared that they could try and enforce foreign laws on UK citizens, my paypal account is verified and everything completely UK related. I currently dont accept gambling/adult etc, and wouldn't introduce that to my current directories, but worth remembering for a niche directory if i ever done one on these slightly more risky niches. Of course i would still check if neccessary to be extra safe, but interesting to read the above.
It is always to be on safer side so do n't accept Gambling or poker links as paypal's clearly states that paypal should not be used for gambling and any kind of activities that are linked with gambling
It depends on your address with paypal and law of the land you resides If the address you states is in a country or state that prohibits online gambling then you go down with paypal
I guess they dont mind so much when it comes to ebay, you can buy chips and all sorts of related gambling goodies on ebay.com, or is it registered outside the states or something? a wee loophole for themselves. http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1&fgtp=
Yes i believe you are right since some have always accepted and never gotten in trouble due to region where they live and work. But like someone said... If theres a Will theres a Way thx malcolm
