Yes, generally expired domains which have been deleted from the central registry don't show any info when using info command, it will be updated at the next major update imo.
No one knows that for sure except for google, my guess is within next 2 - 3 months, could happen earlier as well.
No you don't, you check whether a site has been indexed by site command. Your site will indexed within a week and it can rank for some keywords as well depending on other factors, just the info returned from info command will show what it is showing right now until next update. See this site , which i bought when it expired from tdnam, it was being redirected to some other site previously. Right now it is indexed in the google (you can see that by using site command) but the info command returns the outdated info.
