I've been contemplating picking up a few. Does anyone know how Google and other SE's treat .ws domains?
google likes all domain tld but people will not remember .ws domain. people will mostly remember .com domains
Google has repeatedly said they dont prefer some tld's over others. But is not in googles interest to tell the truth to webmasters at all times, you need to remember that. Personally I think some tld's can rank easier, but its just my opinion. Very hard to prove or disprove as there is so many other factors deciding why a domain is (or isnt) ranking well.
All tlds are the same for google. They love sites that have a ton of link love. If you don't have backlinks, then you won't rank.
All TLDs are equal unless you are trying to get ranked in local G's... ie. a .co.uk domain will help with Google.co.uk rankings for "pages from the UK"
google treats all tld the same unless when they are local targetting. link manager, i can see you are from Malaysia nice blog by the way
.ws is western samoa. I still think a .ws isnt seen as highly as a .com. (I'm assuming you're not targetting Samoan traffic here).
i only know that if you have a .tk that (you dont fully own) and use it only for redirection they dont really like that
Good content plus powerful links are the determining factors for the success of websites and domain names, but certainly .com domains can be easier to handle, writing, memorizing, keyboard shortcuts, etc...
