so Google does not think my blog is not being updated, has anyone researched this. I have a few blogs I have moved up to the 1st page on a certain phrases and want to stay there but how often should I post? Can I get away with every 2 weeks? every month?

    Thanks

I'd recommend at least once a week.

Keeping up with backlink building should help also...

Updating is not actually the key here. If you just want your homepage to be ranked highly in the searches, build your links. Take static sites for example, they don't update frequently to get to the top.

By kinks, I assume you mean from other sites, or can I pull this off from internal linking?

I just wondered if I build up a blog and got it to number one on google for a keyword(which I have) I do not want google to drop it if I stop posting, so will that happen?

Do I get the links from directories?

around 3 times a day on a good day, during vacation usually nothing. Its okay to take a day off once in a while.

I'd reckon two articles a week always the same day (and tell people what day).
I hate bloggers who post their 500 words ramblings twice a day.

Well, for me I made posts everyday when my blog was less than a month old, but later I made it at least 2 to 3x a week. Not that because I am running out of topic but to improve them. And I divide my time to promote it.

Internal linking might have little effect but it helps. Try to get links from sites that updates frequently (so that your link will be frequently crawled) and also sites with high Page Rank.

It won't happen unless, the sites that links to you remove your link or you have competitions.

I would prefer if you posted weekly with quality content rather than daily with some crap "Today I'm so tired." type of stuff. You see I always think that quality is much more important than quantity

Wouldn't it be better to not tell people when you're gonna post. That way you get visitors every day and thus, maybe more click-throughs on ads. If people know you only post on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, they'll only visit on those days, and thus, you only stand to make money on those days.

my experience is that when i don't post everyday my visitors count runs back pretty quick. I try to post every day on all my blogs.

It grows increasingly difficult to post every day when you have a couple of blogs to update.
