i would decrease money spent on arms and increase money spent on education... after that it will pretty much look after it's self.
Yeap will cut 200 billion out of the 600 billion budget for welfare, I think it will have tremendous effect. Also force the military to be efficient and not buy $10 000 hammers etc

Exactly. It sounds nice, kill them all! However in the process you kill 1,000 families, you slaughter daughers and sons, wives and husbands. You create more of who you are fighting. Your death and destruction to 'destroy' them ends up being the best recruitment mechanism possible for them, and you create more!
I would balance the budget. I would also demand that Congress pay for every piece of garbage they are adding to spending bills or cut it.
Well, what you really need IMO, is a Constitutional Amendment (1) that each new Bill must pass Constitutional Muster before a vote (save an Amendment to the Constitution), and (2) an Amendment that the government cannot deficit spend.
It this point it's a lost cause. The national debt is 9 trillion dollars and costing 450 billion in interest a year @ 5%
