XP, Vista just consumes too much ram and is a bit confusing for those who are used to xp interface.

XP is the best for developers. This is due to the fact that Vista requires more resources and due to that our development packages(IDEs) run slowly. XP is more reliable and user friendly than Vista.

My vote is for Windows XP. Many people are now downgrading to XP from Vista. That is really a pathetic situation. It not only eats up a lot of space but also slows down your computer.Further connecting other peripheral devices is also problematic one ;)

so the Mac vs. PC commercial about the downgrading isn't a stretch

or how do they put it in the commercial, upgrading to an older more familiar OS

My notebook does not make any noise and it is a little over a year old. Works perfect on Vista and no overheating problems.

I voted for Vista for 1 reason: DirectX10
Sorry, I'm a gamer, so I do want Dx10. It's THE ONLY REASON I want Vista though, so if you don't game to much, stick with XP.
