Is it possible to register a domain in advance when it is in pending delete stage?

No it isn't once the domain is put in pending delete stage, it is surely going to drop the central registry. Though you can use services such as snapnames.com or pool.com to backorder those names.

I see that looks interesting. But what if some one already has back ordered the same domain? Will they let me know that this domain has already been back ordered so you can't?

    or what is the alternative?

If you backorder thru pool and someone already backordered too the domain will be sold in a auction.

As k3v said, if it has been already backordered by someone else or someone else tries to backorder it after, it will go into auction after they have acquired the name and the highest bidder will win.

Normally there is very less chance to acquire domain name through backorder because most of the time you'll find the domain owner get it renewal. :)

From my own experience pool.com is a great service, i have succesful backordered a llll.com once for 60$ and sold it after couple of months for 400$,so i would recommed this service if you what to backorder.Sometimes you might get lucky to get a great name for only 60$.

I see ... I have checked pool.com and they charge 60USD for it. Is there any other good name which does the same for less money....

    thanx

I've used GoDaddy for backorders and they will you give you an update if they are able to successfully grab the name. Their fee is $18.99 or something like that, the last time I checked.

As far as I know, they do not. The first notice I received said the request was unsuccessful, then a day or so later, I got another message saying I got the domain. I logged in to my account, and the new domain was listed.

To be specific, the OP said it's on pending delete stage. The last registrant is
no longer able to do when that domain name reaches the point of no return.

But yup, what you described sometimes happens.
