Need someone to clear my doubt on directory submission

    Hi guys,
I have a doubt about submitting sites to directories. While submitting a site/blog, all the directories ask for a description and I sometimes find it difficult to come up with a unique description for my site when I'm submitting it to hundreds of directories. My doubt is, can I use the same description for all the directories, or is it wrong to do so? Could someone explain this?

I use the same description for many sites. I change the description every two months.

For high quality directories, I write a unique description.

Many quality directories actually read the description and want it to be unique. :D.

You can anyways. As it totally depends on yourself what you like your site to present to the surfers.

You can use the same description for all the directories. I don't see any problems with this though.

If they're crap directories, chances are no one will see it anyway. I just tell my guys to use one description and leave it at that.

My doubt is - if I used the same description for all the directories, will it have any negative effect?

No, no negative effect. In fact,
    if your description targets your
    keywords pretty well, it can
actually help you in the long run
to use the same description for
    each directory.

I use the same description for
directories that I use in my meta
tags and it's worked out well for
    me so far.

The only thing that might happen is if your site is new and it is searched for in google, yor submissions to the directory sites will show up before your actual site. If your descriptions are slightly different it will look a littel better (in my oppinion) but there's no major effect if your keywords are the same.

Description is not at all matter to determine your SERP. What matter is title (in SEO word its called 'Anchor text'). In order to get better result of your submitting task, you must provide different anchor text.

Little bit Extra Tip: To find different anchor text, go to inventory[.]overture[.]com, enter your main keyword. and result will be shown with highly searched keywords, thats it. No need to work hard or to pay for niche keywords.

Spot on, this is the most important factor that you need to keep in mind while developing links.
