If the NNNNN.com has a special feature (us zip code, or a pattern like 12345), then they will have value and are worth registering otherwise a random NNNNN.com is not imo.
Thank you very much friends for the suggestion. I found some free and a lot of them gone, so was wondering if I should register them or not.
Are Zip Codes even worth anything? I wouldn't give them much value. (A few exceptions on this, but not many).
Oh, I think they're worth as much as they refer to an "important" place ( ZIP of Wall Street is worth much more than ZIP of my city, IMHO )
I don't think its worth registering as many of them are available now..... But , if you find a good one , do register it.....
I have recently become interested in registering lots of these. I got a bunch of them and some of them have incredible traffic, like several dollars a day of cash parking. Others have occasional traffic, nothing bad, will probably make back my registration fees in the year. These aren't special numbers as far as I can tell, and I really have no idea why a couple of the numbers have so much traffic. But I will tell you this, there are not that many NNNNN.com's left, like about 15% are still available, which is only around 15,000. Over 1,000 were registered in the last week alone. There are over 450,000 total LLLL.com's, and all those have been bought and are extremely valuable now, so I think all the NNNNN.com's will similarly be gone fairly soon. All the 1NNNN.com's are gone, most (over 90%) of the 2NNNN.com's are gone, and the rest will probably be gone soon. Most of the zip codes are probably gone, but there are a bunch of reasons why NNNNN.com's will have value: foreign postal codes (Germany, Spain, Sweden, etc.) that are 5 numbers, people have lucky numbers (Chinese especially) and will pay for them, there is type-in traffic, numbers are spellable as words on cell phones, and there are other uses for numeric domains. My strategy now is to try to find similar numerics that have high search values, like using google adwords keywords to see the relative search frequency for the number, a number of those people are going to end up at the site. Anyways, I am trying to compile a list of all available NNNNN.com's available, and see what is out there.
I don't register number domains because they really aren't worth it in my opinion. They may gain value in the future but not at this very moment.
I am sure there are a lot more, but these are a few I found just after typing in a few numbers. 44444.com for an example of a zip code domain 65000.com and 51800.com for Chinese domains (518 is a lucky number in China apparently) 466453.com takes you to google.com (that's what it spells on a cell phone) I think the potential for developing these domains, especially the cell phone spellings, is enormous and hasn't really begun yet. See http://www.phonespell.org/
Number domains are quite valuable for 2 main reasons: 1. they can be zip codes/phone numbers/dates etc 2. they are rare, there are 4.5 times less NNNNN.com domains than LLLL.com (which btw were bought out 3 months ago) Still with that said marchex owns a large part of NNNNN.com's and there are still many left, like 30k or so. I think it's always a good idea to reg a few decent NNNNN.com's, but as for buying large quantities I'd wait a little longer till the market is ready.
Michael: I haven't checked all the NNNNN.com's but I think there are less than 20,000 (20%) left. I have used excel to generate 5 digit numbers (including ones that start with 0 (can use the zip code format) and done lots of bulk tests with godaddy (500 at a time). Consistently it comes up that 80-85% have already been registered. Also, I have checked all the 0NNNN.com domains and apparently these are less valuable and there are over 30% available. I also checked all the 1NNNN.com's and all these are gone, plus over 90% of the 2NNNN.com's. So I don't think the number is 30%, I think these are a lot closer to being all registered than many think. Why did Marchex buy so many? And, when do you think the market will be ready, what would have to happen for that? Thanks!
Haven't checked myself yet, but I saw the number mentioned somewhere. I think on NP Marchex use them as zip codes. like this 56744.net/.com (btw, why would they need the .nets as well is beyond me ) Actually I'm gonna run a check now in DRT to see how many are available. Should take about an hour and a half edit: just finished scanning, 19346 NNNNN.com's are available
