They could give me a copy :) I wouldn't complain about it being bloated or slow or anything. I've got a lovely laptop that would love Vista to compliment the Office 2007 it got free for Beta testing.

You and Microsoft have missed the point. People like an OS that is mean and lean not one that uses all the resources that could go to more important software. If I'm developing a web site I don't want the OS to take up all my resources I want Dreamweaver or Flash to use all the resources so I can get with my life.

I see why most people complain about Vista when I see laptops with Celeron processors and 512MB of ram being sold which is obviously going to be slow, I don't know why they even bother selling Vista bundled with them specs.

Personally I think that's where most of the complaints are coming from, people buy low spec laptops and computers with Vista bundled and it does suck because its slow, then they go and tell everyone who's interested in buying Vista that its a load of crap because its slow. But if you know a thing or two you can disable allot of the extra crap and its a great system. I was running it on a 2Ghz AMD with 256MB under 1GB and everything ran fine, I consider myself fairly knowledgeable when it comes computers so I have no need for system restore, security center, etc.. which I promptly disabled as well as all the fancy effects.

I now use Ubuntu as my main operating system and dual boot, but Ubuntu is proving to be unstable at times with random crashes closing all my programs and returning me back to the login screen but I blame compiz which I have now disabled and I will see how things go. Also reason for the change was that I didn't want to keep forking out money every time a new Windows was released as it is allot of money to pay.

My experience with Vista is somehow so so. Windows Explorer has a lot of bugs. Copying files doesn't seem to be instant to me. While copying, the fastest it can do is 500KB/sec writing. Windows Explorer many times hide some columns and many other times show columns for music like duration, etc.

    yeah I know
but read my post on the other page about my laptop
I can easily use photoshop while playing music, transfaring files to my ipod, while browsing the web with no lag, and 88% of my 1gb ram being used

shit, I could even make a video for you of me doing it

I've noticed the slow speed with copying on my laptop
it's fine on my desktop (unless I'm moving files from one partition to another)

    so Idk

same with the vista disk defrag, it sucks
but I use a free alternative, I forgot the name of it but it begins with A

I have to admit, vista has a lot of little faults thatI can see annoying people
but they can all be fixed by the end user pretty easily

I find Vista pretty cool and way better than XP. It feels "old" when you go back to using XP.

    I us both

    one on pc xp
    one on laptop vista

and i found that vista is better

    why?
    - No more stupid crashes
    - High fps rate

    con
    - More power
    - stupid waste of resources

    My thoughts
    - Linux ftw?

Well you can use VIsta if you have a strong PC then it´s fast as hell , but if you got a weak pc like me for example you can´t do anything else then sticking with XP. Because you can´t work if half of your pc is already used for Windows and then Design something ;) .

I currently have more negative experiences with vista than positive, so I am sticking with XP until further notice. Problems with ram, wireless, various processes... No vista for now :)

But on the other hand: windows xp sucked big time until their service pack 2 arrived. I am expecting very similar thing with vista. Afterall, the best testers are end-users :)

I'm quite happy with Vista Business, although I had some problems with it. Features I like most are new shell (be it Aero, Basic or Standard), Search, Windows Explorer (well I hate it as well) and new Admin tools.

I don't like requirements, sometimes it just uses too much available resources (same was with XP), some apps and games are problematic too.

I have no doubt that in the years ahead, Vista will become success. BTW, it's free for me thanks to MSDN AA.

I am running XP PRO on my desktop and Vista Home Premium on my laptop. The laptop is less of a hassle to deal with than the desktop, mostly do to Vista. After you disable that stupid security prompt, the user experience is much better.

I wouldn't use it if they were giving it away either.
I don't care about Bells and whistles. I just a want a OS that works and doesn't hog my CPU.

It seems like things never get any faster. It seems the more we update our ram and CPU and harddrives.
The more the programmers fill their apps with bloat. So we never actually do get anywhere do we...

If you got a good quality Dell you won't have any issues. My Dell runs fine with Vista. :)
