has anyone recently got into dating and doing good? i did a test today direct linking (bidding 1.10) and got 200 clicks and 1 lead ...i did 66 clicks to singlesnet offer, 66 clicks to true.com, and 66 clicks to eharmony. does it convert this bad for everyone else? i cant figure why it sucks so bad. Does dating work better with a landing page, then direct linking? also with my 1.10 bids i was still on like 20th pos. for alot of keywords.

dating is a very saturated niche.
you can't expect to do good by just direct linking and bidding >$1.

ok thanks for the info...but if i dont bid more then 1$ i wont get any traffic. i tried .60 and didint get any clicks at all, then i upped to 1.00 and was getting clicks but the avg cpc was .70. Also, the purpose of direct linking was a "test"...i wanted to see if it converted then if it did i would make a site for dating, but it converted like crapt.

You're not going to maintain an ECPC of ~$1 with any dating offer. I'm not involved at the moment, but when I was I was paying .10-.20 a click. This was only a few weeks ago, and it was profitable.

Rethink your keywords. And if you're direct linking you're going to have quality score issues on search.

Collect 40-50k keywords and start campaign in YSM. Bid low,$0.15-0.30. After a month, separate your converting keywords, there should be around 100 keywords, and open AdWords campaign with all three matches and very tight adgroups. You can bid $0.60-$0.90 for this keywords, considering that they will be very targeted.
