Proxy - Is it worth this?

    Hi,

I have a proxy domain name (http://www.roundthefilter.com) which is currently parked and someone on another forum is giving hosting only for proxies.

    3gb Space
    50GB Bandwidth
    unlimited proxies

I'd get that for $3. Do you think its worth $3 - and do you think that proxies can do well with Google Adsense?

that's a good deal for that price, bandwidth could be used quickly if you get a lot of traffic.

Proxy hosts usually dont last more then a month or 2, unless its a VPS or Dedicated Server.

yeah that's true and i wouldn't invest in a "guy from a forum" at such a small price. 3 bucks is cheap

He accepts payment in "NP$" too (The forum currency).

What would be the best proxy script which uses the least server resources?

hmm, i though all you can buy with NP$ is domains and the ability to highlight topics.
I wouldn't buy from him as i'm sure he just wants to gain a bit of free money and NP$ then take down the server...

Why don't you try it? What do you have to lose? $3?

50gb isn't enough for a good proxy. You'll crash that server no doubt

50GB will be ok for the first month.

And if you can't make $3/month or more each month with a proxy, just quit right there:)

Just remember, more often than not, you get what you pay for.

Try Hostgator for your proxy. They give unlimited bandwidth, yet suspend your account as soon as you reach 3kilobytes a month. 'ROFLCOPTER'.

If you want to take proxies seriously, get a dedicated server!

But people still argue that you can get unlimited bandwidth hosting accounts for $20 lifetime fee :p
