Are you seriously this dumb? Read the words, Iran does not have full Sharia law but the judge makes the descision. What is so hard to understand? It's not contradictory to what I said.

No, I am not. I do, however, have a fairly low bullshit meter. Gauharjk acknowledges what we all know - that the rulings emanate from Islamic courts, and are theological juridical rulings based on Shia Hadith and Sharia.

You, on the other hand, in a brave example of Plato's allegory of the cave, at best, continue to insist these are civil decisions, not based in the courts' views of Islamic jurisprudence.

These two views, like your literal/figurative quagmire, are mutually exclusive.

Again, I understand you feel threatened, so you resort to childish name calling. But if you'd deal with the facts at hand, we might come up with a profitable discussion.

Might want to take a few steps back...

northpointaiki is probably the smartest guy I know here. Though we do not agree at times, I have a great deal of respect for him because he takes his time to carefully respond to each and every post. His posts are always honest, well spoken, eloquent, and inquisitive.

Want to get people to take you seriously? Try showing them some respect instead of labeling them as dumb just because you disagree.

Just because he speaks with good grammar and acts like he knows everything does not mean he is smart, all he is trying to do is slander Islam, he has no intrest in learning.

Sorry, that is bull shit.. northpointaiki IS trying to learn and understand.. That is why he has engaged in the discussion, that is why he asks the questions he does.

Disagreeing does not mean you are slandering. You really need to grow up, or just leave these forums.. You are bringing nothing of value to them when you behave like this.

    Wrong, i agree with MIA.

He has show you respect has been polite & looked to you for answers, yet you insult him like a child, you come across as evasive & you make it look like you are hiding something (that is fine) but if you don't want islam "slandered" then why can't you be forthcoming, honest & act like an adult just for a short time.

Mia and Toopac, thanks. Happy New Years, gentlemen.

Grab, to continue, again, you have also dodged a couple of very basic questions.

So long as the word "adultery" isn't any longer a confusing term for you, should married people who, while married, screw around, be stoned to death?

Should people who change their minds regarding Islam, be similarly killed?

Adultery isn't "screwing around", it is having sex with another person while married, it ruins lives. Usually more than one, so it's best to get to the root of the problem. I don't agree with stoning but capital punishment should be done in the least painful way.

So you are saying that a humane form of capital punishment is justified in cases of adultery?

Why not just answer the question? Sometimes your responses sound like you are a bot.

I am not rebutting you... I asked you a question... Can you ever just answer a question? I'm not arguing, I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, I am just asking a question.

    Answer the question...

You asked me for a definition of adultery, so I wasn't aware you know what the term means.

Welll, glad to know in plain language your viewpoint. Adulterers should be killed. Now, for the umpteenth time - how about those of formerly Islamic faith who change their mind? Similarly, killed?

Finally, you have insisted over and over again that the homosexuals hung in Iran were hung by civil process, and not by reliance on Shia law. This, in contradiction to what most others of us, to include Gauharjk, know, that these laws are based on Shia Sharia, as practiced in Iran. Do you still maintain the argument?

    Now:

    -From Sahih Muslim Hadith

Did I miss something? Doesn't the above Hadith prescribe death by stoning? Confusing:

[Sic] Except, again, they are not taken literally?

I return to my original point. Literal, or not literal; if literal, there is no other definition but that every word is to be followed, unmitigated by historical context, the fallibility of men, or personal taste.

I don't agree with stoning, I think it's harsh. What does that have to do with God's law to us? We have to follow it so yes it is taken literaly. But I think you will find these days stoning is very rare and usually capital punishment is done by hanging. (In almost all cases). But as i have already said, no country has implemented full Sharia law.

The prescription for stoning is Hadith. To clarify - by "disagree," you find it personally distasteful, but you agree it should be carried out in accord with Hadith? Apostates and adulterers - stone them?

Now - please don't accuse me of slander. I am asking you, from the standpoint of your texts, whether such practices are to be carried out in compliance with your faith.
