Dell is good and really value for the money. Fujitsu is better but cost much more (it is very light compared to Dell). I can say that Dell has good value whereas Fujitsu has good styling.

You can even check out the IBM ThinkPad, however the batterylife is not a great story to tell.

Hp is the best notebook brand for me. My friend bought Fujitsu and it burned.
I dropped HP a few times, nothing happened to it. Since 4 years, i use it with Win XP Home Editon, no service or part needed.

I always preferred Toshiba's models. They are so cool overall.

Yes! Fujitsu and Toshiba normally spends on R & D to develop much better notebooks, whereas the others are more of assembly that's why they are cheaper, but Toshiba and Fujitsu are extremely light and compact.

depends what you want out of your laptop. if you just want for casual and working and surfing online then a nice 500-700$ laptop will fit you just nice, but an entertainment laptop can easily get over 1,000$ and gaming laptops can go over 2,000$

its all about what you want.

I'd recommend DELL. They offer the best configuration for the price.

    1) What is your budget?

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

    5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

    6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

    7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

    8) How many hours of battery life do you need?

    9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

    10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.

    16) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 200GB?

    17) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD, Blu-Ray or HD-DVD drive?
