Best way is to start reducing the amount slowing until you end up not drinking. Too abrupt a stop may not actually be good for health as the body needs to adjust for that.

Hope you succeed. Happy New Year!

I agree. Sudden changes aren't good. But you must know, that you can't succeed in stopping unless you're determined and that's what you really want. It's hard, so you DO have to be determined and tell yourself not to give up. Like Wisdomtool said, just keep reducing the amount very slowly, perhaps a little more each week, until you break the habit. Good luck and happy 2008!

Slowly reduce the beer you are drinking daily and gradually stop. You can't go cold turkey in one day, you'll experience withdrawal syndrome.

Support groups can be helpful, but advoid those such as Alcoholics Anonymous where you surrender to a "higher power", as there is no proof that such a thing exists.

    eheheh.

sorry but everyone says that the day after they had to much to drink.

If you truly want to quit it is not hard. Personally I just drink in moderation. its not hard once you get the hang of it.

Since your body is extremely used to consuming alcohol every single day, any dramatic changes would cause huge problems. You should consult a professional and inquire on how much you could reduce each day without your body having negative affects towards it.

You must do something to change your feelings, because your feeling it's a reason that you drink. Go to hard work or go for a long trip or do smth like that.

Start by reducing the total consumption and continue reducing till the end. Don't stop suddenly. ;)
