I follow my faith because of 1. my faith and 2 my knowledge of my faith.
I have had many debates with many people from different religions, and i respect all religions unless they try to shove it down my throat. You can start by doing a study on the word catholic and what it means.

As a catholic i believe that anyone that does something like molesting children should be treated as a criminal(at least a criminal, especially since they are a priest and are supposed to have the trust of the community). The catholic church has to start effectively dealing with this problem, as of right now they have a shortage of priest and i believe this is the reason for this problem. There are certain sect or rites of the catholic church that allow for marriage, and this is something that i debated with some other catholics as well, but a criminal is a criminal no matter wehat religion they are and deserve to be punished not only for the pain and agony they have caused to the victim but for the pain and agony they have indirectly cause to the victims friends and family, and i know one of the victims on molestation. Pedophilia isnt legal in the catholic church but you allready know this.

But as far as the hard laws (from the chair of peter) of the church i have a fair knowledge of them and they go way back to what jesus told peter( upon this rock i will build my church). This is one reason why i follow my faith. You see i have studied other faiths and have drifted from my own faith in the past so i have allready gone through all of that stuff.:)

Who makes those laws? you? For me anyone that commits an act like this not only should be held accountable for his crime but should spend alot of time in prison to try to rehabilitate his soul and his mind because they are definately sick in the head. As far as all or nothing, jesus doesnt advocate that policy, i truely believe that jesus was a moderate(in between liberal and conservative) and the most important part of jesus was his incredible heart and ability to forgive anyone. This is why i love the lord so much.:)

I know nothing about and have nothing against Catolicism, or any religion. It's quite possible that it's a good religion. I am just saying that it violates Bible. Pedophilia, taking day off on Sundays, Halloween, the list goes on and on - lots of things explicitely banned in the Bible

BTW the punishment is not a prison term, it's death, famine, and/or national captivity, depending on person's age and gender

wo wo wo, You dont happen to be a JV do you? Im sorry but days off on sunday arent violating anything.
Jesus himself worked on the sabbath. Demos i think you need to reevaluate your knowledge on these so called facts. You sound like a jehovas witness now.

No. The only thing I know about Jehovah Witnesses is that they are annoying

It says you should work for 6 days (Sunday included), and rest on the 7th day. (I can't back it up at the moment, will try to find it later.) If you rest on Sunday, then you are obviously not working, it's either one or the other.

Right, there is an emergency clause. Can't work/sell/buy on Sabbath unless there is an emergency. There are 100+ references to Sabbath in Bible, you can do search for 'Sabbath'

I don't belong to any religious denomination fortunately
(Fortunately because it eliminates the need for debating over which one of them is the best)

wait are you talking about Ron Paul am i correct? if you are in support of him you should know he preaches individualism and does not favor stereotypes. you are stereotyping if you are saying that 'because a priest has committed a sin on any given sunday' for some reason that means that I have too?

i am not a priest, i am not fused with every other human, if another Christian sins, that doesn't mean I have too..

i don't see what your argument here is. frequently athiests will come by and say "uh huh! look here you Christians are contradicting yourself by what Scripture says!" But in reality you yourself haven't read Scripture and evaluated what it says.

demosfen, what faith are you may I ask? And if you don't like Sundays... go back to somewhere that they don't speak English and then it is called Dimanche for example...that's French in case you don't know, a lot of French are Catholics...if you don't like the sun, go to the North pole.

One could look at this and say this about just about any denomination or religion, not just catholics. Mormons consider Brigham Young to be a prophet, Islam considers Mohammed, etc...this has nothing to do with catholicism IMO.

I spent a lot of time thinking about it for the last couple of days, and came up with this: non-religious Bible believer

Sun is fine. Worshipping Sun God is strictly banned in Jeremiah. It's a capital punishment. I am not sure what your point about Sunday is. I am just saying that the Bible says you have to work 6 days a week. Christians work 5 (most o f them anyway), it's a violation

From what you wrote sorry I think you really do know nothing about Catholicism or the religions you are taking about. I thought you may be talking some sense in your first few posts. Seems that your mask fell off. Read first, understand first before opening your mouth next time.

what the hell are you talking about we are supposed to work 6 days a week? If you actually read the bible the old testament actually says that anyone working on sundays should be put to death actually. You don't know anything at all your just spewing words looking for an argument and you have no bullets to feed that empty gun called your brain.

There is nothing to chill out because on my side now, I really do not take you seriously enough to be angry at what you are saying. Not sure about killafawk though, but at least we have the same opinion of you.

I am not angry at you i just don't like what your trying to do.

I don't believe in the bible myself but when you come in here talking about something you know nothing about just makes you look uneducated and stupid. If your gonna attack someone at least know what your talking about. Then after repeated times of educating you after every remark you made you try and turn it around saying we are being harsh on you and everyone who is religious doesn't like you... I wonder why.

You come in here attacking someones religion and expected to be told "oh your right shame on us". No people corrected you and your ignorance and now you wanna play the hate card like we did something bad to you. Sorry but you deserve every rash comment you had coming to you. Think twice before you start bashing something without knowledge of what your saying.

    End of story.
