    • My initial up-front investment was $107 for a domain name and 1-year of hosting.
    • I tried using Adwords, and flushed a few hundred $$ down the toilet, then never did it again.
    • I upgrade my host about a year ago, and now pay about $175/month
    • I just invested $160 for a contest at my website.

I personally invested the sum of $9.95 (for a domain) and $39 (full year's hosting) when I began. Obviously, the latter is not a fraction of what I am paying for hosting now. In all honesty, I attempted to sell the domain itself for near $20 a couple of months down the road, but no one was willing to purchase. Hence, since I was stuck with the website in either case, I decided to test my luck and invested many sleepless nights into marketing (once again, without monetary investment). You must realize, however, that when you are not investing capital - much more time must be sacrificed as compensation for your cheapness. :) My post should make a point though; that regardless of your current financial situation, your efforts are the underlying factor in your earning potential.

While all of this is well and good, I was really hoping for some examples of these websites. Anyone care to share?

I'm afraid very few people are going to show you their website.
Many won't even tell you the niche they are in.

This is a competitive market, why chance the risk of adding to it?
