What do I need to do to get my website to be displayed in Google SERPs like the image below, i.e. only the homepage and the main sections/pages are displayed? Cheers for your feedback.
Thats wrong, it doesn't actually define an authority site, this was thought so in the past, some people promoted their site as an authority site because they had these, i think their just called sitelinks. Im not fully sure what qualifies a site for this.
That's probably true. I was just using authority site in a broader sense meaning that if Google thinks your site is important enough, Google might give you the expanded listing.
I don't know how to get these either? I see digitalpoint has them and also phpBB when you search for them? I guess maybe you need a superpower website or if you exceed a certain amount of uniques a day who knows!!
Well look on the brightside. My - currently - PR3 site has Sitelinks, according to my Webmaster Tools account, that is. But I'll be damned if I can find any. Using Google's 'most searched/most clicked' data - no matter what search phrase I use that they give, my sitelinks are never shown. Maybe they thought my site had authority for one day when I made my first sale of the month? ROI has truly sucked this year.
I googled around for Google Sitelinks a bit and it appears that -as always with Big G- the exact reasons for awarding your website with an extended listing in SERPs are kept a secret. This website gives some helpful clues: Site ranks first for the keyword(s) that generate the Sitelinks listing Easily spiderable, structured navigation Fairly high natural search traffic High click through rates from the search results page Useful outbound links Inbound links from high quality sites Site age is several years or older A few hints can be found on this page from the Google Webmaster Help Center. You may find this website useful too.
I know one thing, their not too fussy about the legal side of things, ive seen a well presented warez site with what are these extended listing.
Loads of people seem to be getting these according to their Google webmaster tools, without seeing them yet on any search pages. (and I'll include me in that)
i think it is internal page structure, if you have large index pages google index as segments for users.
Yes, if you have this you're site is considered as authority site and also you can get this if your site has many relevance links to the query.
Its not an authority site if you get that unfortunately, as far as im aware that has never been announced, its just something that some webmasters started saying. Currently ive seen lots of sites stripped of that, at least it doesn't appear for as many of them in the search engine results.
If I'm not mistaken I said in my post that the site could be authority site or site has relevance content related to the search query.
Thats what im saying, thats its not authority if a site shows like that, i saw webmasters specifically label their own site authority because they either didn't mind lying or didn't know any better and believed it was a label for their site. Im not saying that if someones site has that in the search engines that it cant be authority of course. Just saying that that specific thing does not stand for an authority site.
Im in the same boat as you, in webmaster tools "i have" 3 site links, but i can't find them anywhere in google serps
