Try to look at a glass as half full rather than half empty, you will find that there are lesser evil guys around . Happy New Year!
they are both superpowers actually. I guess its how you look at superpowers qualifications. The only thing that worries me is china, they have always been a secret tight nit nation and honestly i think a lot of them still have a huge hate for certain countries just because of past problems. I don't think they would ever try to do something rash like invade a country or anything but i think there gonna speak up pretty soon about certain things. Also communism doesn't work and there is going to be a change in china sooner or later. there is so much problems with communism, huge populations, over crowding, etc etc all this will boil to a breaking point and i fear that it could result in huge problems for asia.
My fear is the pented up demands for democracy may increase as China gets richer. With the aging communist leaders not willing to hand over powers, there may be another blood shed. That's why my feelings is India will achieve super power status faster than China. China has this big big hurdle to go which isn't easy by any gauge. I think China is now the 2nd or 3rd largest economy in the world, any problems with China will affect the world drastically, considering that USA may not be able to sustain its economical growth in 2008.
based on predictions from BBC, China is said to become the worlds top economy in 2026, followed by USA, Japan then India. also from same article: "While India got marks for its democratic system and language skills, India was seen as having deeper problems than China, with more than 80% of respondents pointing to the country's "top three impediments". These were: lack of infrastructure, economic instability, and scarcity of resources. "
the people of China will not have much complaints till the economy is growing. "a hope of better tomorrow" is enough to keep people happy. when things stop getting better, people start to look for reasons why they aren't. the government usually gets the blame.......whether it is a democracy or dictatorship.....it doesn't matter.
I do beg to differ on this, as society gets richer, the clamor for democracy and human rights grow along with it. So the richer the Chinese is, the greater is their wishes for more freedom. That can be dangerous unless the present leadership of China change their mind set.
don't think freedom doesn't have its flaws, it can be worse than a communist society if the factors are wrong.
Depending on the stage of development of the society in question. For eg, IMHO, giving Iraq democracy is wrong timing. But I can't say that for China, it is too vast and I do really know what is their mindset with regards to democracy. We may see something evolving, a hybrid of democracy and communism. Who knows that might just work for them
I can take just about everything but the Tripe.. ICK.. Just looking at it made me gag.. There is the place in Manhattan, just off Time Square... Can't remember the name of it, but man is the food good!
Are you sure everything? Tripe is certainly a No No for me, but I heard the snake and dog meat are also popular there.....
I don't remember seeing either served at this place, or anywhere else I have eaten, but then again, who knows.. If some of us saw what was in some McDonalds products, we'd probably never eat there again either...
that's very true.. India's population will be 1.6+ billion by 2050. indian roads, ports, public transport, etc are overburned. with rapid economic progresses, the pressure on infrastructure will increase. add to that the rapid depletion of natural resources... (not just in India, but worldwide) and the future does not seem all that rosy. economic instability?.... not sure about that....I guess the author wanted to highlight economic inequality in India. the economy seems very stable to me. .
China and India are both regional powers. It's possible that China becomes a super power within the next 20 years. China is actively expanding it's navy and working on aircraft carriers. Koreans really love the kimchi. It's kind of like a Korean sauerkraut.
Well India is a country with highly efficient human resource. Engineers, Doctors, Technicians, Professionals that can work virtually anywhere in the world, any part that can speak English. (All thanks to UK for ruling us for 200 years..). And this highly efficient man power is bringing money in the country. It's amazing fact that Indians working in foreign country send USD back home, equal to the India's annual defense budget. What India lacks is infrastructure (although it is slowly building it) and quality ingenious consumer as well as defense technology and products (although it's making slow but steady progress in the area of defense technology). Down the line, in next 50 years I guess India will develop enough infrastructures, jobs, and technology, that is required to become a true super power. Right now India is surely heading towards becoming one of the economical super power (The huge market guys).
Those Chinese work hard..but they are not creative people. When did something new came out from China? All they know is copy others and make it cheaper. And they are lack of basic ethic, Even the high educated one. All they care is money. They made poisonous food and paint because they don't care about other's life. also, the corruption is really bad in China.
Both these countries will surpass the USA. Its a real shame India and China have not forged closer ties that would greatly increase collaboration on all fields that will boost trade and business between the two countries. They should help each other and also take more more prominent role in the world. This will reduce America's influence in trying to police the world. So, in 20 years time, we may not have the catastrophic illegal war that was Iraq.
