I highly suggest this forum setup and promote a funds escrow for buyers/sellers... i am sure there are existing escrow services out
there that DP could hook up with...

I was looking at a site for sell last night, seller claimed
it was getting 800 visits a day, and link sales. someone
made a $1000 offer, which i do not find odd at all if a site
is really bringing in traffic and some $$$ - what i found odd
was the fact that 2 days earier that same link exchange site
was only a mere blog coverted to a link exchange, and the
directory was almost empty, did not consist with having
800 visits days plus many paid link submissions...

another type of fraud is over inflation of what a business is
actually doing, lets say the sell claims the site is pulling 2-3k
a month, with escrow, this is where the truth really comes out...
funds are escrowed, site is setup, etc... then the buyer is
only seeing $10-$20 a day in sales, this is not consist with
what the seller is claiming, the site should be pulling $75-$100

if the site is consist to seller claims, then buyer can push
the funds through, if the site is not consist and shows clear
proof that is not performing, then buyer can select arbitration
    to get his funds back....

BUYER/SELLER ESCROW IS THE SAFEST WAY TO GO...

we just not have to guess and hope the site that we
pay for is going to hold up to the claims of the seller,
and most times i bet you it does not.

    Thank-You

    PS

personally, I use rentacoder to buy some scipts, and I am going through this right now.
I paid for a script in escrow, and coder claimed he could do it. it turns out the coder
has claimed the project is 100% complete, but in fact, he programmed crap for a quick
sale, im not stupid to release $$$ for an unfinished software, when arbitriion reviews the
fack the script is junk, I will get my funds back.

So basically, you're looking for some else to be responsible when a transaction goes bad? You can use an escrow service on your own if you feel it's necessary.

So you think the buyer should be responsible for misleading claims?

escrow is to protect both parties... it would be escrows
responsiblity to determine the truth of the sellers claims...

dishonest sellers would not use escrow as they know they
    are dishonest to begin with.

Honest seller that holds true to his claims would have no
problem using escrow until his claims are verified...

protecting buyers from fraud should be the highest importance
on any forum, and it would not cost DP anything to find a escrow service
with a reputation, and urge buyers and sellers to use them.

Your original thread leaves the seller at threat. What if the buyer takes all stuff, and doesn't push the money through?

I think lets leave this buy and sell to common sense, if the buyers or sellers can't exhibit common sense against fraud, there is nothing much anything or anyone can do. Users here should be capable of protecting themselves without being spoon fed.

Escrow is the best choice for any transaction, big or small, but fees come into play...that's the problem.
Otherwise, your suggestion is pretty-much common sense to mostly everyone here. :p

I use Get a Coder, not Rent a Coder, but a lot of the coders on that site are horrendous. Worst of all is that they're foreign, mostly from India, and cannot understand proper English. Don't get me wrong, outsourcing is great, and India programmers are great too, but the people on these "find and a hire a coder" websites are mostly crap, and a pain in the ass to work with.

As I said - use an escrow service if you feel it's necessary. Why do you expect DP to get involved? It's up to you to protect yourself and there are remedies available to you if needed.

Why is it no one wants to be responsible for their own actions any more?

Wouldn't this require DP to hold some sort of licenses in at least the United States ?

I am almost positive they would have to be bonded. Now that is some fun I'd like to reserve for the OP.

DP does not/will not get involved in transactions between members.
