How much is 5 bucks

I just finished reading this thread and it made me curious. How far will $5 USD go in your home country?

The mentioned thread carried a fairly condescending tone. I'm not attempting to prove one country better than the other. I'm just simply curious.

I've spent time in Korea, Ireland (briefly), Mexico, Canada, Somalia, and Kenya. Each country was a unique experience and most of which I intend to revisit.

That said, in the US (midwest), $5 bucks will getcha:

5 for 5 at Arbys (5 sandwiches)
Cheap seats at a "Dollar" theater.
6 pack of cheap beer
pack of cigarettes
can of chew
light bulbs
3 cans of Chunky brand soup
pound of beef X 2
a ton of ramen noodles
2lbs of chicken breasts on special
7 cans of veggies
3 gallons of milk
3 loaves of bread
1.75 gallons of gas
several misc. "stocking stuffers" from wal mart
12 pack of bottled water

That's all I can think of for now...would love to hear from others.

Here's a currency converter should the need arise

 

5 bucks here in Australia would get about 2 x 2L bottles of Coke from the supermarket or only 1 from a corner store!

 

5 bucks will buy you 1 hour's time with one of my SEO goats. It's good value.

$5 can buy about 4 $1 menu items at Mcdonalds, Burger king and El Pollo Loco. Barely 1 gallon of milk. 2 loves of bread. A little ove a gallon of gas almost 2.

 

In the UK it gets us between 2.4 and 2.6 litres of petrol...

Popcorn/Coke Combo = $15
